The only summer olympic events worth watching are track and field events up to 400M and throwing events. The rest is trash non-sports played by non athletes. Gymnasts are great athletes but that sport sucks and is too subjective

The Olympics were already waning in popularity, but 2020 killed all hype.

Only person I know that is excited is someone that's actually competing in it. But also

No one really cares anymore, I think the japanese did, granted they romanticized the time the olympics were hosted there. Then they add stupid "sports" like pingpong or the like.

The only thing that reminds me the Olympics are coming is when some news article comes out about how they're supplying the athletes with 50 gorillion condoms for their epic orgies

I remember the cardboard box beds they had in japan to try to prevent orgies.

olympics are some kind of overhyped freemason ritual, where they pretend 3 billion people watch it
    in reality barely anyone does
there is no public viewing to watch the rowing final or somehting
noone but a few dedicated people turn in

Lads, calm your breasts it's about 7 weeks away and in between there's
      >Elections in nearly a third of the world
      >Euros
      >Copa America
      >your standard summer competitions like TdF, Wimbledon, French Open etc
There will be more hype unless your criteria is posts on Fhitedotorg.

The rowing is ticketed, but I'm sure you could just go to the place and watch as long as you're not obstructing.

      >London was probably the last great olympiad we will ever get.
This is because they repurposed extant venues to host events like Wimbledon. The problem with most Olympic host nations is the fact they're building out new arena and venues to host the events so there is no real connection to the host nation. They should immediately discontinue the "city model" of the Olympics and just have it hosted on a national level that is compact as possible to aim for this.

This argument makes no fricking sense when you look at the venues for Paris, Tokyo and LA. This has only really applied to Beijing, Rio and Sochi (can't comment on Pyeongchang). There's only a few venues being built for Paris, some more renovated. That, plus many of the venues being used do host the sports they're being used for (bar shit like combat sports and fencing). As

If that is your issue, 2028 should be up your alley.

says, LA is even more geared for venues.

World is too heavily radicalized just like the 30's and 40's and COVID destroyed the olympic cycle in 2020, killing the hype for the Tokyo olympics. There was no proper continuation in the olympic movement 'cause no one watched the Tokyo olympics in the proper sense and Tokyo passing the torch to Paris, so no cares about the Paris olympics or at least won't pay as much attention as they would if things ran as normal because of it.

And with the current political environment, the olympic movement's mission statement of unity and world peace, like the olympic truce for example, can't be observed, it's basically impossible at this point, more than ever before.

Let's not forget that rampant sportswashing and olympic spectacularization of sports around the world has turned many events like the olympics into costly wastes of time and money. Hosting the olympics games now costs a ridiculous amount of money, plus the bribes you probably have to pay IOC delegates to get those votes for your bid. Olympic games are probably coming to an end.

The only growing sports are football and soccer. Everything else is stagnating or dying, and the olympics are the ladder. It's also the combination of the tokyo games breaking the illusion and the winter olympics being consistently shit.
Let's list every single olympics in the social media era. Vancouver was the last decent winter olympiad. London was probably the last great olympiad we will ever get. Sochi was meh. Rio was good in spite of all the brazil shit. Nobody cared about pyeongchang. Tokyo was shit. Beijing was even shittier. Korea > Japan (covid) > China (more covid) was an absolute brutal stretch that murdered the olympics. It's been eight years since an olympiad took place in a relevant time zone. Nagano into sydney was the closest, but it was sandwiched by atlanta and SLC. The organizers should be fired for that type of incompetence. Eight years is more than enough time in today's era to lose all relevance

This was proposed multiple times but the best the IOC accepted was sharing it between two cities, which was already somewhat happening (the 2010 edition was shared between Vancouver and Whistler but the games were named after the former)
