Yeah I do, anon. Ratings only matter if you’re looking at upwards/downwards trends. As a fan, I don’t really care. A lot of great art is unpopular. I don’t think it speaks to the quality of the shows either way. Nor do I think a game flopping financially has anything to do with quality.

The only time good games flop is when they aren't promoted or advertised well and people literally don't know they exist. Flop Forever was heavily advertised, its target audience was thoroughly aware of its existence, and it flopped specifically because it's low quality shovelware.

Its true, it's like Comcast saying "AEW PPV sales were in line with expectations, contributing to revenue targets".....that just means that at a 50/50 split, Comcast made about what they expected. It doesn't mean AEW made a profit, it doesn't even mean Comcast made a profit.

As the price of Flop Forever dropped, I highly doubt the Platform/Developer/AEW split stayed the same percentage/minimum.

in line with management expectation literally means that, even if it just made a milly

        Anonymous

Even if it made a milly (doubtful) it still had production costs of an estimated 8 milly or more, that's losing money. Embracer/THQ could've made a profit off of it just fine if Moneybags Tony was footing the bill personally, which we know he was because it was in development long before it even had a publisher.

      Anonymous

Then how could a game "cheap as frick" to produce be the one deciding factor in profitability for AEW in '22 like Meltzer claimed?

        Anonymous

Why would you take that goof seriously to begin with. A few months ago he was arguing with 0 follower accounts on twitter claiming that aew makes a profit.
If you look at the minimum spend for every aspect of their monthly production and payroll there is a zero percent chance that they would ever make a profit without huge TV rights increase. The business plan for aew is seeing that wwe gets huge TV rights increases and assuming that aew will get the same percent increase for existing. Even at that, even if they do manage to get that increase, it is unlikely that they would make any profit considering that they keep spending money recklessly. Unless half the wrestlers end up not being renewed, then there's a slight chance. It will be interesting to see when they get the new deal and how they announce it and follow it up re: spending

      Anonymous

It just LOOKED cheap as frick, because it was in development for so fricking long it cost way more than it should've. Yukes were just rinsing Tony for years, it's completely implausible a game with so little content on a recycled engine would've taken so long.

It's literally an ongoing cost with dlc updates and server costs.
If this report is looking at returns per year, then there is a chance that all of the costs are from previous years so any purchase since then look like clean profits. But overall it's an undeniable failure.
I don't see why anyone would waste time trying to make up reasons to pretend that game was a success. If the super marks weren't busy trying to defend aew's honour then maybe the company would stop fricking up and getting worse.

That's why there was some initial positivity around it that amounted to nothing, they released bones and the only updates it got were half-baked and outdated DLC with no changes to the engine or season mode or anything substantial.

          >FF has come to PS+ one year after it came out and the game is complete (abandoned)

'They' did say that but like a lot of things in the clusterfricked development of the game they walked it back later. May have been Kenny that said it before the THQ rep told everyone to ignore him and that he doesn't speak for them kek

Probably because it's free for June. They sign these deals months in advance. It's usually enough of a payment to keep a game going 6 months to a year longer even though most rarely download the game they "purchase" for free. I can't remember the last GOOD free PS+ game they gave away.

FF has come to PS+ one year after it came out and the game is complete (abandoned)
WWE games are yearly releases and if they put 2K23 to PS+ one year later, it would cannibalize 2K24 sales because yearly games are 80-90% the same and if you can get the "old" one for free, you won't bother with the new one, unless you are a massive WWE fan

clearly not enough money if it's being given away with Playstation Plus.
