AEW has to be more like WWE!

But why? It's supposed to be an alternative. Why does it have to do things the WWE way? Nobody wants another WWE. This is what killed TNA, but all you hear and read is how Tony needs to get a clue and be more like WWE. Why would anyone want this? We already have WWE, we don't need more

>Hurr but then you'll never grow or appeal to the casual fan!
Who gives a frick about the casual fan? Why are we trying to impress these people? Why not just try to entertain wrestling fans?
>hurrr so you just want to be a niche product that appeals to a certain audience?
Yes. What's wrong with this? Keep a hardcore fanbase happy and they'll likely be fans for life. They have nothing to gain by trying to appeal to the average WWE fan and everything to lose. Why risk pissing off your core audience to appeal to WWE fans? People will always pick a side, so why bother trying to win over the naysayers when they're likely to just keep watching WWE anyways?

There's lots of things Tony could do and plenty he needs to do, but trying to win over WWE fans is a waste of time. Focus on keeping the fans that made this all possible happy.

I think they mean that aew has to actually make money and get people to watch it like WWE does

I guess you're right, but wouldn't it be better if aew had shows that people other than Tony Khan and twelve of the fattest smarks alive wanted to watch?

How is a strawman? Every discussion about AEW online for the past 12+ months boils down to 'they need to be more like WWE' or tickets and ratings talk

There's no seethe here. I watch both shows and the worst thing AEW has done outside getting rid of Punk is try to be more like WWE

    >AEW has to be more like WWE!
I've yet to hear someoneunironically say this. People hate on AEW because 1) the garbage contrarian indieriffic style that's prevalent over there 2) Tonikan's autobooker system ported over from TEW 3) the annoying fans who swore on their lives that WWE is going down once AEW gets going proper which never happened 4) unironically a lot of homosexuals on here seethe about it because they've been brainwashed by /misc/ and AEW tends to both attract and promote a lot of neo lib rhetoric
    >Nobody wants another WWE.
    Plenty of people do.
    >This is what killed TNA
Going up against mid 2000s WWE head to head, alongside other bad business and booking decisions is what killed TNA.
    >all you hear and read is how Tony needs to get a clue and be more like WWE.
Booking cohesive shows is a bad thing? I get he wants to appeal to the "workrate" marks, but his booking is actually abso fricking lutely braindead.
    >Who gives a frick about the casual fan?
AEW should, at least to a degree. I know Tonikan has practically infinite money but infinite money won't buy him viewers, eventually the "hardcore" fans will become jaded and stop watching, or maybe another wrestling style fad will pop up.

    >WCW is doing fine while using the gimmick of them being real wrestling
    >They start being like WWF and they die
    >TNA is doing fine with the WE ARE WRESTLING gimmick
    >They start being like WWE and they die

It is clear what the people want. People just end up shooting themselves in the face by making it a competition instead of being happy with being a niche.

They all start making dumb decisions, then get memed, either by others or denial, into thinking the problem is production.

You have to understand WWE changed wrestling forever to most younger fans. They weren't there when wrestling was dirty, so they think it's supposed to be this hyperclean, prissy, Disney shit. I'm not even talking about just drones, cause there's a subset of them who are actually based and want it to go back. And there's a set of AEW gays who want it to be even more sterile, like WWE.

Ask Tony homosexual. He's the one that hired a WWE producer to turn his dynamite set into a literal WWE knock off with white ropes and led boards everywhere.

AEW is losing money, they are doing less viewers in the ratings and the arena's often have many empty seats while AEW signs more and more expensive wrestlers.

AEW doesn't have to fix it. They can keep hoping the next TV deal with be bigger and make them profitable. But if it doesn't, the Khan's will eventually get tired of losing money and close the company. And if the ratings get too low, they will eventually lose TV and really be dead.

AEW should be as big or bigger than WWE, only a shitty business man wouldn’t have this desire
    >casual fan
niche wrestling sucks and has always sucked, if you can get people who only passively like wrestling to watch (like when it was at its peak in America), you’re probably putting on a better show anyway
    >muh dubz
you idiots are why only the most obnoxious hardcore fans give it a chance, I watched the shows first three months and wanted it to succeed before I stopped because: 1) the shows were cringe and Tony is just an autistic rich boy booking for himself, and 2) you dub morons act like just because it’s not Vince’s wrestling means it’s good wrestling. I don’t like the small twerps leaving their feet, I don’t like troony world champions, I don’t think any of the comedy works at all, I don’t care if Vince underutilized Cesaro, I don’t care about New Japan, Jericho is washed, Ambrose is washed, the botchamania shoot injuries stopped being funny when it was every fricking show…I mean frick anon if you like the shit then fricking watch it but you dub marks whining all the fricking time and demanding to be taken seriously is the most obnoxious childish fricking self-victimization shit I’ve ever seen with wrestling. Tony is booking to you hardcore fans, because you’re all him and he is you, and I hope he fails horribly at this point just so I can enjoy wrestling again without all you fricking vermin clouding up the conversation. There’s nothing elite about your dub. It’s a shit indie show with shit indie matches, shit indie stories, shit indie workers and the booker is a nepo-moron shitskin. Now watch it and stop whining or get the frick off the boards

This homie mad af kek. All you image board dweebs complain about these obnoxious AEW fans, but do they even exist outside twitter? Drones are the insufferable ones. WWE has a good show and no one makes a peep. AEW has a good show and pants get filled with poop. That's the reality, to deny otherwise is mental illness.

Things AEW can do to improve:

Teach guys how to punch so they aren’t punching a foot away from their opponent ala Kenny’s windmill punches or hobb’s ground and pound.
Stop doing spots that take to long to set up and require obvious cooperation to do so.
    Don’t bump off missed dives.
Not every match has to be back and fourth action. It’s ok for top guys to beat lower guys with ease. There’s no reason swerve should be just barely beating guys who have had 3 matches this year and lost all of them.
If your match is taking a focus instead of an emotional one, then the match should end in the action climax. Don’t bump head first on the apron just to go another 20 minutes to get pinned by some fancy knee strike.

I don’t know if doing these things will make them “more like the wwe” cause I don’t watch wwe. But it seems like pretty basic stuff that even indie shitters like Simon Sez managed to understand 20 years ago when he was wrestling in front of 20 people and maybe 100 more on dvd.
