WBD's window of exclusivity for renewing their rights deal goes all the way until Dec 31.

Meaning Tiny has to take or leave WBD's offer and if he leaves, he has no grace period where his show is still broadcast via TV.

If he wants to negotiate with other networks, he has to do it without an ongoing TBS/TNT deal. He has no leverage

Their current deal expires in December so that makes no sense. Smartest aewtist lol

What doesn't make sense about it? USA and Fox had windows of exclusivity to make renewal bids for Raw, SD and NXT. But the exclusivity windows lapsed a year before the end of the actual deal. Which gave WWE the time to explore other offers while still having programming on the air

AEW doesn't have that luxury. Tiny can't explore offers from other stations until WBD's exclusive window ends but that window doesn't end til the end of the broadcast deal. So if AEW wants to negotiate with Fox they have to wait til Jan 1 2025... after their contract w WBD is done

Their exclusive negotiating window would end before the deal expires, same as it did for wwe. That’s why wwe had new deals in place a year before contract expiration. Aew is 9 months away from being without a tv deal and no sign of a renewal or any interest from other parties.

It's NOT the same as WWE. The window of exclusivity for WBD is STILL going and we're 8 months from the end of the contract.

And WBD is waiting until the NBA deal is resolved before dealing w AEW. They're waiting to see how much $$$ and which timeslots are remaining before they make an offer to AEW. It's getting WBD's scraps because WBD has all the leverage.

Tiny could walk away from their offer but he won't have any real time to negotiate with another network who will have already made plans for the 24-25 season with advertisers.

Tony thinks WBD is his friend and ally, no way would he try and do that
He already had an offer for ROH but he turned that down out of some unnecessary loyalty to a tv station

There's 8 months left in AEW's TV deal
At the same 8 month deadline, WWE had secured the future TV deals for Raw, SD and NXT. And they have at least 6 full months to go big on advertising new channels and time slots for their season premieres,

    What's the holdup for AEW?

Bellator secured a deal to have all their shows livestreamed on MAX on seven days notice.
