AEW is a great landing spot for young talents who hate the WWE style and old talents who have been there/done that
Why can't that be enough? Why can't AEW do its thing and WWE do theirs?

This whole thread is AEW haters pretending to be AEW fans, because the actual AEW fans are in hiding. It's sad what they've done to themselves.

He'd sooner buy the WWE back than start a new promotion, but he'd rather completely humiliate the WWE in its present state with a new promotion than come back to the WWE after the way the new owners have treated him and disposed of him.

They're running out of markets. Especially with how they treated their biggest draw (CM Punk). AEW is NOT welcome back in Chicago and many related metropolitan areas. You don't treat a legend like that and expect fans to stick around.

Only costs marginally more to book the bigger venues, and then looks better on TV when you have a large arena that looks full cause all the empty seats are behind the camera.

        so, no organic demand?

        Anonymous

The cameras can only hold the illusion for so much. Once the audience experiences the dead zone of AEW venues, they're not going to be looking to return on the next show. They need to hold it into an arena that feels full and alive for the fans to want to keep going back. Booking smaller venues and creating an atmosphere like prime TNA would do wonders for them. Having each venue look like 2014-2019 WWE is not a good idea.

        Anonymous

        >looks better on TV
A packed 4k or 3k venue looks and sounds much better.

They're stuck in a awkward spot where they don't want to downsize to small arenas because it would be viewed as conceding that AEW is a secondary promotion not in the same league as WWE. As bad as the ratings and numbers are they still want to portray themselves as true competition and not lost in the shuffle with all the other "not wwe" wrestling companies.

There's also the logistics behind running a traveling show and how much easier it is to work with these big basketball arenas which are set up to have semi trucks drive right into the arena and unload all the gear right where you need it. The people that run these arenas make this all go smoothly as they handle all kinds of shows and sports coming in and out of the arena every week.

        Anonymous

Sad thing is if they would just start filming in High School gyms they would look packed, give AEW a unique identity and they might actually get some fans into the product who aren't in their 50s.
