This looks like it was supposed to be a double pinfall finish, did Gaitch go into business for himself?

losing this match is why he teamed up with Vince to make sure he won the belt

No. Power Trip was always leading to an HHH face turn. He gets the win here, and Austin gets more paranoid as he asks HHH for more help.

Never liked these types of pins. What exactly even counts as an actual, valid pin fall in kayfabe? Just anything? If a fricking piece of paper lands on my opponent and I'm holding it by the edge, does that count?

Same, also always hated the "climb out the cage hit the floor at the same time".

Paul did such a shit job here, you could see him resisting the urge to hook the leg and still tried to reach for the 2x4 for whatever reason. Just fall down normally you pussy

Most moronic thing ever. 2001 killed wrestling forever.

I liked the match where Stone Cold murdered Triple H in a car with a lift at the end better

Who's the more powerful team in Kayfabe?

Austin and HHH in powertrip or Rock/Reigns in Bloodline?

    There aren't many stronger teams

Austin/HHH, but the whole thing was meant to lead to Austin/HHH at King of the Ring 01 with the normal roles reversed, Austin as heel, Trips as face.

LMAO they really thought that would work, huh?

It really is astounding to just how out of touch Vince can be sometimes, and how dumb he can be.
On the same level, looking back, I'm actually SHOCKED that H never learned how to pull off being a proper face despite being given so many chances. I guess he's just a born meathead because he always came across as trying too hard. It's strange too, cuz I feel like he's one of the most normal guys in wrestling.

Triple H has that b***hy condescending voice
He was doomed from the very beginning in terms of being a face

...Damn, he does have that, huh. Explains a lot more than anything else. He's pretty much a male Karen.

Combination of Austin really wanted to work heel, I don't know if it's still up on YT but JR had an live Inside the Ropes show in England where he talked about it. He went to both Vince and Austin saying it wasn't going to work, but Vince said he owed it to Steve to at least try.

Plus Triple H's two month face run in September/October 00 did work a bit, wasn't Austin/Rock level but still. Rock was gone until the summer, there wasn't really babyfaces in waiting.

It would've been like Rock vs Austin tbh. People didn't want to boo Austin, but people forget that HHH was getting face pops whenever he hinted at it from late 2000.

It was gaytch's backstage politics. He legit wrote in his book that he was more popular than Hogan

HHH claimed he won because he was supposed to get added to rock vs austin

People forget just how much of a wienersucker HHH was. He leeched off of Austin/Rock for the better part of late 99 into 01 and killed a ton of guys momentum post Austin/Rock leaving. Reason why Goldberg and Benoit's runs were so ass was because they couldn't escape him.

    >Wins over the biggest face in the company
    >Immediately goes on to get squashed by the Undertaker
What was the plan here. It's not like they did anything with Taker, who spent the entirety of 2001 being Kane's Jannetty
