be honest with me, NO CONSOLE WARRING:
do you think they'd get way less hate if their fanbase wasn't like they are?

the show isn't great but it's not bad either. I feel like people would go easier on it if the fans weren't so spergy 24/7.

I remember an anon here posting something that stuck with me. Essentially the AEW fanbase are the niche PWG/NJPW/NXTB&G fanbases desperately trying to deny that by being the 2nd place promotion they've become the new TNA fanbase.

  8. 4 weeks ago

Yes. AEW's vocal fans are a different breed, and not in a good way. I have the misfortune of occasionally engaging with wrestling posts on Facebook and occasionally I'll get pushed a blog post from a wannabe Meltzer who just repost quotes from the people who first publish them, and it always accompanies some super homosexual editorializing or opinion piece.

Most recently and this is just one example, this gayola named Jon Escudero posted mucho texto about how great the Edge match was and that taking a shotgun to his tibia actually was good, and when people torched him up and down the comments for being a smark Black person he accused them of forming groups to leave laugh reacts on all his posts. He's not the first or even twentieth I've seen do that.

WWE fans are legitimate cultists and have been standing up for WWE since 2008.
Outside of this are actual investors and employees of WWE who post here and have to say everything in AEW is shit because it’s unironically their jobs.

    tl;dr:
    I doubt much would change.

WWE fans are the vast majority of AEW haters.
        This is a simple fact.
The hate will continue because their hate is fairly militant.

You're right OP. As soon as AEW started, a certain portion of its fans started blowing smoke up its ass, while looking down on and making fun of anybody who still watches WWE. This tribalistic behavior started pretty much day 1 and definitely hurt the company's reputation. If Tony has any interest in elevating AEW beyond being a permanent B show, he would do well to lose this particular subset of fans.

"It's not bad either" this company literally only exists to ruin another medium (wrestling) in the world just like every other medium has been essentially destroyed. This "fed" is nothing but homosexual garbage that no real self respecting person would ever be a fan of period. If you legitimately enjoy, have enjoyed this "fed" at any point you legitimately need lobotomy or something. You are a gay that doesn't work if you enough shit like this. ..and from the looks of it, that's certainly the case...every image of this "feds" audience is filled with what everybody would deem as the bottom of the barrel in society. If you disagree I don't know what to tell you.

Just because you say no console warring doesn't mean it isn't exactly that when the thread itself is "aren't aew fans awful". You also make this exact thread every week or so as if the first part wasn't disingenuous enough

      Anonymous

I disagree, I always enter these threads with more of a "why did AEW have to go so wrong" vibe than "aew fans suck" but they do so it gets said.

        Anonymous

        >I always enter these threads with more of a "why did AEW have to go so wrong"
And that's more than completely fine. Anyone out to say they have no problems or couldn't be doing better are either out of their minds or intentionally have their head up their ass. But there's a difference between genuinely discussing those issues and being like 'hey wouldn't AEW suck less if their fans weren't all a bunch of morons?' which is the exact crux of this thread which they then try and mask with 'oh but no console warring'. Also "be honest" as they ask something entirely opinion based

You mean if there fanbase wasn't TNA Mecca on steroids? Maybe but the fanbase is what it is because its a promotion for the dumbest of the dumbest marks who irrationally hate the company up north because they didn't get the self gratifying booking up north that they get down south yet it comes without any story or build half the time.

Pretty much ever since Hanger won the strap the company has been circling the drain creatively, there are brief flashes of brilliance here and the but week to week it doesn't feel like the rigid "we have a direction and we're fricking sticking with it" mentality is there anymore, Dynamite is usually skippable for 3 weeks a month and it doesn't matter because booking doesn't matter week in and week out. Rampage and Collision are shows you forget exist if you have friends and go out to the bars on the weekends which it seems like half of the audience does based on the ratings so at least it seems half of the audience aren't always online spergs..

..but the other half of the audience that fricking is terminally online its like I said at the start of this comment, TNA Mecca on Steroids with THE SHEER DELUSION of their cope posts every day of the fricking week, its nice that they are into the product but the absolute toxicity is so off putting online that I very much believe that they are actively driving off viewers with their autism.

So to answer the question, yes they would 100% get less hate if their fanbase wasn't psychotic, but their fanbase is psychotic and its actively encouraged by the company so it's never going to change, if anything its going to get worse as time goes on.

REMINDER: this thread was posted to help "AEW fans" be better people. Everyone specifically asked for "NO CONSOLE WARRING" - this itself was a test to prove why AEW fans are so insufferable.

Please, going fwd, do not cry about other wrestling feds and please stay on topic. We are trying to fix the AEW fan problem. Thx.

The biggest problem with the """""""""hardcore""""""""" fanbase will forever be the
    >"the shit we like is so much better than the mainstream and popular WWE thing and the casual fans would totally love the thing we like too if only they were to be exposed to it"
Hence their non stop crying about their favorites being pushed some 10 or so years ago and their constant jabs at WWE now. Obviously, AEW having a huge platform has completely disproved those claims, seeing as how a lot of casuals shoot think the AEW style is silly cringe (and no I'm not console warring kek there is plenty of proof for this) so now the cope has shifted to
    >"I don't care if the casuals like it I just watch what I like"
Which has in turn made them more bitter. It seems they just can't fathom they're simply a niche fanbase within a fanbase which is absurd to me. They like to compare wrestling to other media so I'll compare it to music, take something like Death Grips for example. Pretty huge fanbase on the internet but it will never appeal to the casual music fans and I don't recall ever seeing DG fans going on fricking Travis Scott or whatever's youtube videos and crying about how DG is so much "HIGHER IQ than Travis Slopp" and starting mass scale console wars because they understand that their shit is shit and niche. Once they finally accept this and stop comparing themselves to the big leagues they will be far less obnoxious.

I don't really interact with many AEW fans, I just think the wrestling is really goofy (not in a good way) and they make a lot of stupid but funny mistakes. The whole thing feels incredibly amateur.
The fans make very little impact on my opinions of AEW.
