It's soccer. How hard could it possibly be to teach kids to kick a ball around? Especially with YouTube. Just read a book about coaching and you'll be fine. Also, congratulations on hoodwinking your way into a job. Based.

the most important thing for under 12's are tactics
use at least one training slot every week for full on tactics training, watching videos, analysing, etc

Dont listen to this German, tactics for kids ONLY for defense if even that. You will ruin their creativity and your country will have to call african players to fill the ability players on your NT. Focus on ability and skill develpment exercises

Dont listen to this Brazilian. This is the reason we were able to beat them 7-1

The last time they won a WC was 2002. Football has changed a lot since then and this childish mentality

is the reason they haven't been able to compete since.

7-1 was definitely a result of a complete lack of tactical strategy.

First: How big was your lie? What did you put on your resume?
Second: What's their level? Are they local good, state good, or even beyond that?
Third: Are the kids serious or just enjoying their favorite sport?

The odds of you succeeding are pretty low regardless, but if they are a moderately successful team you are screwed. And if the team is serious you might as well just tell them you got something better, apologize and move on. Also, if you have an assistant or someone who will be around you that knows even a little bit of footie he will sniff you out.

Now, if their level isn't that high, they are unserious and you didn't lie too much on your resume, you can probably do it. Read the rules, watch some games, look up some drills. In their first practices you can run with some bullshit like open scrimmage cause you want to "assess their skills" or something. Then, start running some simple drills. Be as professional as you can with the adults, but with the kids you can be playfully serious. Challenge them, give them a bit of freedom, but when it is time to practice, it is time to practice. Be careful with "how do I do this?" type of questions, you will be fricked regardless. Football is not easy to learn if you have never done it in your life, dribbling and walking with the same members is too challenging for most people.

Anyway, if they aren't that good, but want to be, go the German route, focus on drills and tactics, learn with Youtube videos, simplify the concepts and pass what you learned to them. At least pretend to know the good stuff.

But if they are just your average kids trying to do something else after school, go the Brazilian route. Focus on simple tactical concepts like triangle and defensive ideas, but give them freedom. This is usually better for kids this age unless they are really high level.

Dont listen to this German, tactics for kids ONLY for defense if even that. You will ruin their creativity and your country will have to call african players to fill the ability players on your NT. Focus on ability and skill develpment exercises

Does being an under-12's football coach actually make money? I thought it would be volunteer. Are you doing it at a high level?

if you watch some football training videos and focus on the HIIT/physical conditioning side of things, you will be fine.

What will expose you is your own lack of skills though.

Are children's football coaches really paid in 'straya?
No way that's a livable wage. It's a volunteer job here.
