Because they're lonely and blame Covid for it and think if there was no Covid they'd be having a good time with friends, instead those friends all moved or they moved.

Bill Walton was practically a "/pol/tard" by the end of his life. He was a pretty big hippie too, and I wouldn't be surprised if he avoided taking the vaccine.

here is talking about how the city is fricked up for letting homeless people just sleep everywhere and not enforcing the laws

There’s something sadly poetic about him dying the same weekend as the PAC-12 played its final athletic event as a conference. Gonna miss him on the mic.

I'm happy he never was forced to call a UCLA-Rutgers conference game. It's the right time to get out of this world.

As a Celtics fan, this hits me hard. Bill Walton was the 1st player I vividly remember watching that invoked some kind of homosexual stimulation deep inside of me. I was probably not older than 10 years old. Watching the classic Celtics games on VHS, and it was essentially porn for me. R.I.P. big fella. Gonna rub one more out tonite in your memory. For good times sake.

The 70s is completely memory holed because it was a crazy coke parade and the NBA had to fight with the ABA to give bigger salaries to druggies and after Len Bias died the NBA decided to be a Narc League and memory holed the entire decade.
It's a shame because guys like Walton and Dr. J were able to maintain a legacy by having a media presence, but guys like Moses Malone just exist in Record Books.

          Anonymous

Where can I read more about this? Obviously I know the Len bias story but I no very little of the history of the NBA, where can I read more about the 70s

            Anonymous

You might be able to find it on the Internet and if not your local library probably has a few books about it

            Anonymous

The breaks of the game by David halberstam is a fantastic intro to the decade. Focuses on the blazers after Walton left for San Diego Clippers but uses that to delve into the championship team and others of the 70s. Plus the issues with the nba vs aba feud (Moses Malone got picked up by the blazers in the aba dispersal draft but they refused to play him because they were spiteful of the aba), drugs, million dollar contracts, tv deals, owners buying and trading organizations whole sale. Wild shit the league was able to survive. And near the end, you get a tease of magic and bird as they were rookies at the time of the books release.

Yeah, Hall of Famer, one of the 10 best centers of all time and a noted personality who transcended the sport.
People talk about Jordan and Magic and Bird and Kobe and Lebron, but the 70s belonged to Walton when it came to star power and the 70s was an era where basketball really started to blossom.
