Bruno Sammartino was the king of manlets

>5'10"
>265 lbs
>one of, if not the, biggest draws of all time

Why do lanklets claim that height matters when in fact it's weight that matters most in pro wrestling? It's just easier to get over 240 lbs when you're taller.

That's why it's called a "heavyweight" division, and not a "tallheight" division btw.

What used to draw back then doesn't draw today. A modern copy of Bruno, Inoki, Santo, Big Daddy, etc. won't draw today.

You're moron. If wrestlers today were like those then it wouldn't be in the shitter today

He's right though. Bruno was beloved. Of course he would draw today, because he looks legit and would demand respect. No one gives a frick about skinny gays like ZSJ, except for the workrate smarks.

Here's another example of a manlet that's a massive draw: Mike Tyson. He's also 5'10" btw. I strongly recommend you don't call him a manlet to his face. He might not like it.

I've watched alot of 70s matches when wwe had the network still and the pace was alot slower but more realistic. It was actually really good. I enjoyed it alot more than I expected I would. Bruno's matches were great and it felt like everyone looked good when they wrestled him.

This. gays today think good matches mean exclusively fast-paced, no selling and no rest holds. They should watch a Bruno MSG main event and see how methodical he is and how the crowd pop. That Bruno vs Larry is something legendary; zero pin attempts in the match, great psychology, heat, electricity. Another example of great ring psychology is the Inoki vs Kobayashi match which felt like a real fight. Modern wrestlers threw everything that made wrestling good and decided to LARP as Marvel heroes.

Not sure what you find so amusing about guys like Bruno and Inoki. You shit on modern wrestling, but modern GOATs like Kenny and Okada and their matches are more exciting and filled with psychology. Kenny is a better promo and probably a bigger box office attraction than Bruno. Kenny would get over big time in the 70's yet Bruno wouldn't draw a dime in the current era of wrestling.

It's not about height. It's about weight. Get to 240 lbs at least. You don't need to be 6'2" to do that.

People paid to see him. He regularly sold out arenas and even sold out stadium shows too. Bruno still holds the record for most consecutive sell-outs (as the main attraction) at MSG to this very day, for any type of event. Bruno held the WWWF world title for almost 8 years! Bruno is one of the biggest draws of all time, but because it was before the Vince era, most wrestling fans today don't know much about him.

Why was Bruno a draw? Natural charisma, legitimate look, and legitimate wrestling ability. He had a personal connection to the Tri State area and was essentially a hometown hero for the entire territory, which was the most profitable for decades. Bruno also controlled who his opponents were and the storylines too. He was savvy to the business and knew how to get himself over, as is true for all the true greats.

Based bro. I kid about zoomers a lot because most have no idea about wrestling history and don't care to learn. But some of you are based.

Peawiener/WWE Network has several Bruno matches if you're interested. It's in the Old School section, which are arena shows mostly from MSG, Boston Gardens, and Philly Spectrum. Bruno's best work was against Superstar Billy Graham, Larry Zbyzsko, and Stan Hansen.

Bruno is spectacular at making his opponents look menacing and getting tons of heat, which only makes him look better when he eventually wins. Matches are slowly and more grappling based back in the 70s and early 80s, but you can tell by the crowd reactions just how insanely over Bruno was. People went absolutely nuts for him.

Call me a zoomer all you want, but it was a different time with different standards. Big, hairy men drew big money back in Bruno's era and he was already outclassed by the bigger stars nearing the end of the golden era of WWE, the late 80s and early 90s. He had a really good babyface aura around him but he did not present himself nor could he cut a promo quite like a Hogan or a Savage etc.

Of course this is under the assumption that he would not adapt or change at all if you placed him in a more modern period, but still, I doubt he could ever be a draw past 1995

If people can call modern charisma-less twinks 'draws', then Bruno would draw in the modern era. Problem is, when people point out viewership is down, and you finally admit it, you people think if these twinks aren't drawing, nobody can. But that doesn't work. It is at its lowest under the current Twink Kingdom, and never got this low under the big guys.

All evidence points to twinks = no dimes, mocked by the media bullshit.

Well I guess promos didn’t matter back then. You just needed exceptional strength. Boomers were so easy to please. They really did have low standards for entertainment, but I guess this was the best they had available at the time. Anyone today saying they’re a fan of Sammartino, Thesz or Baba matches are complete liars. Their matches are boring.
