Tony’s plans to develop talent is inherently flawed. He thinks putting young guys in the ring with older guys and letting them go 20 minutes will get them over and turn them into stars. But then the new guys just eat losses for years/months so no one could possibly care about them
That and they don’t actually develop, it’s been 5 years and people like Dante Martin are still the dimeless flippy shitters they started out as because they don’t listen to anyone telling them to cut that shit out

Dante is visibly a better wrestler than he was even 2 years ago.

Relying on already hyped Ospreay as opposed to signing people from scratch and developing them. They didn’t develop Will.

Developing and creating your own is always better for longetivity, no matter how smarks cry about athletes. Thats how it’s been done across the world and why NewJap got fricked because they can’t churn out talent like that anymore

WWE's last main event was Cody v Styles and their next is Logan Paul. Don't see many WWE "originals" there.

Did you miss the examples literally posted? You can try to ignore NXT but they are literally doing their own PLEs with 16k

In the same city WWE is having big 4 events on the same weekends, curious.

Yeah Tony is doing what smarks b***hed about WWE doing, poaching talent from other promotions but it’s okay when Tony does it

it was never about "churning out" talent with the Young Lion system. the point is that it takes time. the pandemic fricked half the places that they used to go on excursion, and Tony raiding the indies didn't help matters.

            >raiding the indies

reminder that anyone in AEW is free to work just about anywhere if they want, even active champs were still doing indy dates on weekends

AEW doesn't have the infrastructure to sign a bunch of failed college athletes and teach them how to wrestle in hopes 5% of them will actually get it. tony just signs young guys that already learned to work and got over in other feds/indies, which is exactly how wrestling used to work.

People like Julia Hart and Hook who don’t do much but AEW wrestle less than 30 matches a year and simply won’t progress the same rate. HHH was right about the grind

it doesn't really matter in modern wrestling though. if you're only working 1 TV a week, you can completely choreograph your matches like logan paul and the NXT women. you don't need to learn how to wrestle of the fly, you have all the time in the world to come up with your next match.

It does matter because they simply lack experience and don’t have Logan Pauls celebrity to make up for it. It’s always about reps

The NXT women wrestle more. They have house shows. That’s why they end up on TV so fast after signing

yeah cause Singh is shit, there's even a clip of Jarrett having to tell him where to stand during their entrance, literally tells him "other side dumbass" so clearly it's known backstage that the guy is useless and can't be trusted to have a match by himself, the Danielson match was probably the last roll of the dice to see if a vet of that level can carry him but clearly he's giant Gonzalez levels of bad. but it was worth taking a chance on him, not many 7'4 dudes in the world and if he had managed to become halfway decent he could have been an attraction for years to come, but again he can't even do his entrance without fricking it up, no one was gonna be able to teach him how to work a match

Even with AEW has created their own talents like Hook for example, it still wouldn't help them much because of Tony's shitty booking to elevate them and talents poaching from the different promotions thus keeping their own developed talents sidelines for his new toys
