I think the problem was they tried doing the entire booking in two weeks. Punk losing and regaining his fighting spirit then beating Moxley instantly. It was so stupid, kek

Yes, watching Punk's programs, he never gave off the feeling that there was drama behind the scenes or any issue and went through with the matches. Mox politicked so that he only lost to Punk if he beat him first, but was too moronic to realize he only beat an injured Punk and regular Punk then heemed him. Same as he didn't realize Kenny made a fool out of him in multiple matches then the Bucks left him in a pool of his own blood and he never got revenge and it killed his aura.

      Also this.

Still beats what AEW is doing now.

      And this.

        >he never got revenge
He repeatedly got revenge on Omega with multiple beatdowns and wins during the BCC-Elite feud. 95% of that feud was just BCC beating the frick out of the elite with no reprisals, they didn't lose until the very end

That's one of the problems with Tony's booking, that outside of rare instances he's incapable of long term booking. This angle could've been kino if it got like a month of Punk being a broken down bum and then he regains his fighting spirit. Instead it just seemed so pointless because he just beat him a week later

You're giving Tony too much credit.
        Tony has a spreadsheet.
On the spreadsheet he writes wrestler name Vs wrestler name and the show name. Any reason for anything on the show is mad eup by the wrestlers when they are put on the spread sheet as "promo". That's why so many aew promos are awkwardly trying to make sense of bad booking. They are literally trying to make up the reasons for their programmes.
Punk is a godtier promo so he was able to carry that shit. Some guys are able to get over in spite of the stupid booking. But you can only do it so many times.
I can't remember the details, but I do remember that during the Punk and MJF stuff Punk had established some context and then Tony booked something that contradicted it the next week and Punk went out and cut a promo that just barely scraped some sense out of it.
The reason guys lose all of their heat is because they don't have decades of experience improvising or established personalities.

It was good in the end, despite all other factors, due to Punk still trying and making it work. The shit going on behind the scenes was moronic though. Punk did have a seriously volatile personality, but his ability to still do his job in the ring is actually underappreciated

Punk hasn't had any problems in the WWE since he got back. Seems odd that The Elite would have heat with a supposed psychopath who's normal around everyone else but them. That's overlooking how they shot on him multiple times on tv, but hey, that wasn't their fault.

It was stupid for multiple reasons. Made Punk look like a joke champion, hot shotted a hyped title match onto free TV, happened in the span of two weeks when it needed at least a month, happened at the height of Punk's reign.

Why would he? Mox might be shoot moronic asking for the squash to soothe his ego but in the end they both just did their promos and matches like professionals. The real moron is TK for putting his belt on someone he didn't have under contract and who was and still is clearly bitter about always being number two or three when it comes to the belt.

        >When did Punk refuse to lose?
Tony asked if Punk would be willing to do the squash weeks earlier than they did but Punk said no because he wasn't going to put his health second to a company's needs again (and fair enough). I imagine that's what's being referred to.

  13. 4 weeks ago

nah it wasn't about that. Mox hated the whole interim thing and thought that if it wasn't legitimized then all the work he put in carrying the company while Punk was out would be for nothing. Blame Tony for trying to work interim title reigns into wrestling. If Mox's reign was legitimate from the jump then he doesn't demand to beat Punk first.

Mox was such a good company guy he cancelled all his planned time off to help the company out due to Punk being made of glass. Moxley did nothing wrong in calling his shot and demanding a win, especially as he would put Punk over at the PPV anyway, creating a future rubber match for later on.

If Tony had t booked the stupid interim title shit in the first place then none of that bullshit would have happened. But Mox being such a mark that he politiced for his fake reign with a fake belt to be made into a real reign with a fake belt before losing it days later was particularly sad.

Mox doesn't like bullshit and knows Punk is more full of it than anyone in wrestling currently.
