I've never seen people who are into other sportslike presentations obsess so much over something so arbitrary like TV ratings.

Correct. Ratings are a direct expression of how entertaining a TV show is. The only exception is if a show does low ratings because it's on some obscure channel nobody has in which case quality is less of a factor.

E-drones are cultists, they cheer for what they're told. When RAW moves to Netflix and slopdown is off network TV next year, suddenly they'll act like ratings and muh milly doesn't matter, won't matter, never mattered. Watch.

Why do AEWtists love arguing in hypotheticals?
      >smackdown will get canceled in two more weeks!
      >vince will go to prison in two more weeks!
      >AEW will draw more than WWE in two more weeks!
Can’t they come up with a single argument based on facts?

If a show does low ratings it gets cancelled. You know, like AEW.

AEW fans spent the last two years saying AEW was about to beat Raw in the ratings and now that that hasn’t happened ratings don’t matter

Here's the thing - Almost without exception, in every podcast, interview and 'shoot', Pro Wrestlers all talk about 'drawing dimes' as the single most important thing, to the exclusion of everything else. There is no other creative medium on the plant where the people making it are so nakedly mercenary, without any regard for artistry or creativity. It's no wonder that pro wrestling fans (well, the tiny minority that make up the hardcore IWC that infect Fhite and plebbit) are also obsessed with money.

Personally, I think fans who only care about drawing dimes are morons - Whether or not a show I like draws 0.5 Million, or 5 million only matters to the extent that I don't want it to be cancelled. But I understand why they think that way - The people they grew up idolizing have spent decades telling fans that creativity and artistry are not considerations in Wrestling.

Btw, I don't watch AEW, so the people who get angry at what I've said don't call me a coping aewtist.

      >nakedly mercenary
It's ironic that carnies are more honest about this than so-called respectable actors and musicians. to whom money matters at least as much.

If you believe that your favorite famous actor or musician would do the same work for minimum wage, you're hopelessly naive.

Where did I make such a ludicrous claim? I didn't, because obviously I don't believe that. But plenty of actors act in films that they know aren't going to make a billion dollars at the box office, because something in the script interested them. There's entire genres of music where every musician working in it knows that they will never be able to retire, because the music is inherently not commercial. Even in the pop world, some (not all) artists will make creative choices in their career that they know are not as safe as recreating what made them successful. Wrestling is the only medium where both the fans and the talent will dismiss notions of creative fulfilment.

We are obsessed? Smarks were posting the raw ratings on wooo every week 15 years ago back when WWE didn't even have any competition. Now you're mad when it actually makes sense to post ratings. Hell no, go and cry about it.

I've never seen people who are into other sportslike presentations or any sort of media obsess so much over something so arbitrary like some random journalist/reviewer's star ratings either, yet here we are.
Imagine if a whole new music label started up and they only signed people who Anthony gaytano gave 7/10+ ratings to. Or if the New York Knicks traded their entire roster because Stephen A. Smith thought a different lineup would do better. That's how moronic your fed is lmoa

For me at least I’m not obsessed. I just know a good lolcow when I see one and aew fans and staff are a kino source of entertainment every Thursday for a while now.

If the same was happening to the fed I’d be lapping up tears there too. I just like to see people obsessed with a brand suffer and gnash their teeth.

I’m pretty sure if the warp was real I could ascend to daemon prince just riding the wave of seething and crying on Thursdays lately.
