You have to understand, E-drones, that your company is no longer the best option when it comes to monetary contracts. AEW easily offers ten times more. Don't you see all their recent acquisitions? They all picked AEW, not for the homosexuals matches, not for the bingo hall feel, but because they're making mad bank.

Bants aside, is it? Is it the same when we talking about having a 3 times bigger fan base and more exposure?
Having the artistic freedom can be a good thing to some people, a marginal of people who have ideas to explore, but I find that people who take head bumps for a living are better artists when they have limitations to work with.

And I personally, imo, think you have to be more of a moron to appreciate something as clearly phony gymnastics as AEW is most of the time than the general viewer base but that's more of a personal taste about how the thing is dressed up - almost every dumb thing AEW does has been done by WWE in the past and will be done in the future. I'm just saying even a mouth breather audience can spot where things get cooked the wrong way if it tastes funny and looks off.

It's 2X bigger and a chunk of those I would not classify as wrestling fans while all of AEW's fans are. And AEW still has a huge fanbase despite the kvetching about it so you're still getting a ton of adulation in either company.
As far as seeing it as an art form, it's definitely not universal but it's crucial for people like Danielson, Moxley, Mone, Ospreay, etc.

And I can't take you seriously if you're just parroting the gymnastics line. Every move in WWE is scripted and the matches are soulless with no fire 90% of the time.

            >the money is about the same
            lol keep telling yourself that

It's not far off in the majority of cases and it's close enough to that if your personal preference was skewed in either direction you'd still pick your preference over a couple extra dollars.

            Anonymous

I'm talking like the kind of fanbase and name recognition WWE has built and optimistically AEW is still building despite declining numbers. That's the kinda of money that outside of just the wrestling deal Tony offers. Like who are you after 8 years of working in AEW and compare that to 8 years of working in WWE to the almost normie fans. Individual skills, connections and success matters of course but I don't see another Cena coming from AEW any time soon.

            >Every move in WWE is scripted and the matches are soulless with no fire 90% of the time.
I can't believe anyone would write this with a straight face, vidrel, I renamed it just for you because it took so long to find from my folders
            >And I can't take you seriously if you're just parroting the gymnastics line
Not parroting, just telling exactly what choreographed Bucks corner stuff and shit like recent Cartwheel ROH spots with Kommander are, as seen on tv and internet with picrel by everyone. It's not Tony's fault originally, it all stems from Indies and late era ROH but he is an enabler

"every dumb thing AEW does has been done by WWE in the past and will be done in the future".
You don't need to go through the trouble of cherry picking, I know it's there - I know about the Ricochet - Cole - Gargano superhero poses, the dumb comedy spots etc. I just wanted to point out your point of something being scripted in WWE doesn't exactly mean what you think it means - maybe you meant something like " formulaic, safe and samey" because most of the matches don't have "innovative spots"

Still. I don't even know why you'd cherry pick Omega or Ospreay to point the otherwise, these two are the embodiment of "lets get all our shit in like it's the transformers movies" script wrestling. They book their matches full like a rich woman's wedding gift list and don't ever take anything unnecessary like taking few of the 17 different head bumps out

Too bad great wrestlers don't rate your tastes as artistic merit in-ring then brother
Your idea of a good match just isn't in line with someone like Danielson and that's why he doesn't want to be in WWE.

            Anonymous

There's 400k viewers for what Danielson considers a good match these days. You know whats a really fricking good Danielson match in AEW? the Mox one, and that started his downfall.
And while yes, there is "artistry" and skill of wrestling in display - does it actually qualify as a good match if it's only selling point is two guys do wrestling moves good but there is nothing to draw an audience in, no spectacle, no anticipation, and memes aside, no story. It's practice room masturbation on a stage for smarks and people who also wrestle for technical - can that be really called good wrestling when the whole point of this carnie sport is to draw money and crowds.
Evander Holyfield was a great boxer, a fricking brilliantly gifted one with massive reach and he put the work in. People have hard time remembering who he is outside of the guy who got his ear bitten by Tyson. People probably don't even remember he had other matches. People don't remember he was on WWE for match with Hardy. He was that fricking methodical, practiced and boring for anyone who didn't analyze boxing or bet on the results.

            Anonymous

And Collision was #2 on prime time last week with similar numbers.
And you can hate the "artistry" but good wrestlers don't. Now they have a AA wrestling company where they can apply their craft and still "draw dimes" instead of being starfrickers hawking t-shirts to every kid with downs syndrome who just wants to sing their theme song.
And as far as legacy goes. AEW's top matches will be timeless. I can go back and watch Danielson's AEW run in 20 years and still be blown away while there won't be many things close to that in his entire WWE run.
The WWE meme moment is great but anyone who respects the craft will respect his AEW work more.

            Anonymous

Firstly you put the quotations in "hate the "artistry"" in the wrong place and misrepresent what I write like a sillybilly. Specifically says there I can recognize the skill. It's extremely annoying to have to reiterate 3 posts back for some things but having you pick your own interpretations without reading the same line you quote is not worth my time either beyond this.
Reiterating now for clarity that the in-ring skin, while a requirement for any wrestling to be good, is alone not enough to make for a good match because it's
            >Missing the point of wrestling as 'endedaimend' and business if nobody is there to watch or only future generations digging up the archives is worthy and big brained enough to appreciate as genius type of starving artist - appreciation through time mentality
            and at worst
            > Schrödinger's cat wrestling of two bums fighting in cardboard box that without looking in the box it might be the greatest match of all time or they might just lay there dead.

Secondly AEW is equally if not more superhero wrestling, as shown in vids in this thread, so pulling out that acting and "serious" acting comparison from Downey of all people without actual context or tone of the quote against WWE style is pretty attempt sad. To take this off from some humorous acceptance speech without the full context to back some claim that technical work should be more valued than sales is asinine. Nolans movies aren't struggling in terms of money in production and marketing put into selling the 3 hour boring dog shit to the audience, especially after how badly Tenet sold. This ties to first point that you miss use quotes, as badly as the guy who made the tweet in the picture, is this your tweet? Stop, please.
Of that side note: Bafta's is the britbong wrestling tube equivalent of movie opinions, Oscars are a unionized pat-on-the-back-competition, kinda like certain other industry eh?

            >"I just think they {AEW} embrace the idea of being professional wrestling is the, is the real difference. And WWE is, is trying to be more generalized entertainment," Danielson said. Try to get it as, try to get it like, the masses involved in, 'how do we get the masses involved in whatever this is?' Right, to this thing. It's weird. Sometimes I would get the sense that they, people wouldn't, they don't want to be professional wrestling.
            >"They would like to be something else entirely, you know, that's kind of the switch away from, pro wrestling is this other thing, this dirty thing, this low rent thing, and what we do is something completely different, whereas AEW embraces the history of professional wrestling.

lol no you won't. Every big man, by comparison to prime Arnie, is a charisma void, including Batista, Cena, and Rock. None of them are like him on the screen. NONE.

            Anonymous

Maybe you are not going to the right places? Arnie was never charismatic; he had presence, don't confuse the two. Nor did he have any notable acting skills before late years, heck he couldn't even get rid of the accent despite living in the fricking country for decades and marrying a Kennedy.
Anyway, the point wasn't to do the actual talent hunting for you but to note that you could easily find one but building one up from scratch is harder - if was easy Arnie would have started with stinkers like Hercules in New York.
At the same time, right now, his mexican sidetails kid he made, he looks exactly like him with the bonus the multi-ethnic look Hollywood likes and yet nobody is throwing him money to be in movies, whats up with that huh? Even with kinda having name recognition from famous dad, it's not really gotten the money for Arnold Jr. Juarez or whatever he is called.
