I truly don't think these nobodies or even Sasha had an active offer from WWE or even spoke to them. It's all posturing just to screw the Money Mark out of more money.

I think these things work both ways (remember Orton teasing AEW). But WWE has been around forever. They know when a wrestler is trying to play them.

Chatlotte's husband? Gee, I wonder how that happened. Face it, WWE isn't trying to but these "hot new free agents". Especially, when they already have all these guys at home.

Tony signed Sasha for millions of dollars and she's doing nothing but fail in AEW. Why wouldn't WWE want that outcome? It works in their favor.

She's failing because she's too WWE. Her current schtick would work over there. I remember when rumors that she might be back would always pop F18-49 huge

I'm sure WWE wanted Sasha back, but WWE is clearly unwilling to enter bidding wars for anyone at this point. Their roster is great at the moment, they surely wanted Ospreay and Okada, but not it meant paying fricking 14 millions. You can count on one hand people who are worth a 14 million investment, and they all work for WWE.

I was shitposting, but early AEW had a "feeling." There was lots of goofy dumb shit, but there was also moments of soul, and excitement. You literally didn't know what each show would bring. It was like a theme park with a bunch of different rides and you never knew which ones you would be riding on any given night. Hell they even had their own carnival sideshow with bearded ladies and geeks.

At a time when the WWE was really bad AEW felt so fresh and interesting that Wednesday night really was something special. But that was back when the EVPs were still booking and before Tony took over and made everything samey and boring.

2019 WWE being absolute ass water doesnt by proxy make AEWs early booking good. it was horrendous outside of a few early ppvs. Sidelining the hottest free agent in Omega by jobbing him out left and right, The Inner Circle storyline, The garbage stadium fights, not to mention burying every single hoss on your roster for dimeless baristas. People shit on Russo booking but gobble it up when its given an AEW coat of paint

WWE is stealing AEW viewers away even if their shows are on different days. The Rock and Cody is more than enough entertainment for most casuals and smarts, so there's no reason to watch AEW right now. When WWE was struggling it was a closer fight, now with Vince gone there's almost no point to watch both shows.

his babyface turn was the start of the decline. Whatever casual fans AEW had wanted to see what heel MJF was going to do next, then when he became a fricking crybaby who embraced the power of friendship that's when they stopped watching. Tony is just a moron who can't build any new stars and so it's only gotten worse since MJF has been gone.

I don't know how to tell you this, Anon, but American Viewers are much more likely to get behind Black wrestling stars than they are Britbongs and other wrestlers with moron accents. New Day, Bianca, Sasha sell/sold a shitload of merchandise and licensed gear -- Ospreay, Finn Balor, Dragunov, they're great in ring and as on-air talents but shitters when it comes to moving merchandise.

Thread is moving too fast to keep up, but I just gotta make a point. Why do AEW stans think that WWE offered contracts to Jay White, the asians, or even Billy/Willy whatever his name is?

Whenever AEW gets brought up on television, I think Roman said it best,
    >"exactly! no pop."
WWE fans don't know who these guys are. Hell, I've been here since /asp/ and I don't know who the frick they are!

I'm sorry, but there being a bidding war for guys they'd just stick on NXT makes no logical sense. Tony overpaid simply because their friends in the media said they were "talking to HHH" (no they weren't).

      Anonymous

      >Why do AEW stans think that WWE offered contracts to Jay White, the asians, or even Billy/Willy whatever his name is?
Because Mike Johnson said so. According to him WWE offered Ashy Nomillie 10 million dollars.

        Anonymous

Kek, idk those names either. But you get my point! The wrestling media needs clicks. And if that means drumming up some fake bullshit about free agency, they'll do it. The best part, contract discussions being private, the media never needs to reveal their sources (they have none).

The guys AEW recently signed are all tight with the media too. If it helps their buddy get an extra few milly $$$, why not say WWE was "really interested" in signing him. Again, no proof needed. But AEW marks take these liars at their word.

      Anonymous

      >Why do AEW stans think that WWE offered contracts to Jay White, the asians, or even Billy/Willy whatever his name is?
WWE probably did make them offers (along with Sasha/Mercedes) but they were sensible offers based on their actual drawing power because WWE is a real business. Tony Khan is willing to pay big bucks for these literal who's because he is a mark and its not even his money that he is spending lol.

        Anonymous

We'll just agree to disagree. I mean, if they don't move the needle in AEW, how would they have any impact in the Big Leagues? I guess our point of contention is that you think WWE at least low balled them to see if they'd bite. But I just don't even think these guys are worth that hassle. Especially when WWE was going through so much turmoil and changes.
