Edge's WWE contract expired and he wanted to wrestle more than WWE would allow him to. Didn't hurt that Christian and a whole fresh crop of names were there for him too. He wasn't some free agent AEW's existence was hinging on bringing in. It's just where he's landed. I love how everyone shit all over him while he was in WWE, where he spent the majority of his return run in the midcard, and how he should have lost every match all the time always too, but now that he's in AEW he's supposed to a 'neEdLE mOVeR'

hulk hogan didn't, taker didn't, stone cold didn't, rock didn't, any big wrestler doesn't NEED to have a partner and can be by themselves if they need too. Edge NEEDS someone else to carry him 100%

            >Edge NEEDS someone else to carry him 100%
This is one of the most moronic takes I've ever seen. Edge has carried entire feuds, including a Wrestlemania main event one, all but completely on his own. This whole x doesn't need a dance partner thing is moronic anyway because yes, all of those names you listed still needed someone else to work with. They can't be feuding with themselves

I mean you just cant beat WWE. If a normalgay thinks wrestling, he thinks of Hulk Hogan, Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. They think of Larger than Life characters, super charismatic guys that dont feel like the average joe. They think of sports entertainment. And AEW doesnt provide that.

I shoot had a friend ask me about AEW and wondered if that was just a rebranded TNA. Thats how powerfull WWE is in the wrestling world.

It would require a complete overhaul of the brand and a fricking booker who understand what draws and what doesnt, a booker who understands human emotion. And even then I dont think it could ever overtake WWE. Especially now with the sole reason for AEW's existance being gone from Wrestling.

It's WWE with its crap is what killed wrestling. The reason why AEW has difficulty breaking through in the public perception is because WWE has a brand awareness of 60 years that people associate with wrestling and for the past 20 years they've had a monopoly on the West. That isn't gonna change in a matter of a few years if ever. WWE has dug too deep and it'll need to deliver close to a decade of shit product and AEW a good product in order to somehow manage to reverse the trend and even that is no way guaranteed. WWE doesn't even have to be good, they just don't have to be utterly dreadful to watch and kinda bland to keep most of their audience away from AEW since most WWE fans (which is what wrestling has come down to) are never gonna even give the second company a chance, let alone stay as regulars.

That's how dominant companies work in every facet of business.

If any of that was even remotely true, then Tesla wouldn't have shot past Ford, GM, etc, in valuation. TikTok wouldn't have passed Twitter, and on and on.

AEW isn't bringing anything to the table that the market has demanded more of. They're shining a bigger spotlight on indy wrestling, which is indy for a reason: match after match with minimal storyline and character development is not a draw, it's boring. Indy wrestling is, as I've said before, a 90 minute action movie with 80 minutes of fight scenes.

AEW is like pornography, if you've seen 10 minutes of it, you've seen 2 hours. WWE has fans rewinding and going frame by frame, wondering if they saw a nipple.

Exactly. I hate how wrestling fans are so damn determinist. There was once a time back in the 70s & 80s when Japan was the largest market for wrestling. If you followed the avg wrestling fans' logic, they'd have you believe that it'd be impossible to sap away Japan's monopoly on wrestling. What happened? Vince Mcmahon happened and he learned from Giant Baba & Inoki, on how to mass merchandise wrestling as a mutilmedia income source. Vincetty made wrestling cool when he merged it with the Mtv audience of 80s & 90s & eventually jap wrestling itself just imploded lol. Times change.

Gayew ain't moving the needle because it just feels like a nostalgia act, but for aging millennials so you have the worst of both worlds. You get aging stars from the attitude era, mixed with modern day millennial troony politics & social issues. The end result is a show that feels like it was booked by a schizo due to how it wants to be both edgy & millennial virtue signaling at the same time.

e-drones legitimately think that if you put some wrestlers on a show, people who don't even watch wrestling are meant to flock to their TV (in 2024 kek)

WWE hasn't made any new fans either, the only bumps they get are from returning fans who force their 5 year olds to watch it with them. Nobody outside of the wrestling bubble is interested in wrestling.

It's been 5 years of AEW not "moving the needle" at this point the people who think anything "moves the needle" in wrestling are completely delusional. In WWE it's been 20 years of solid ratings decline, and yet these bizarre ratings cultists still cling to some fantasy that ratings can go up if you just appease the Attitude Era gods. Wrestling fans are primitive cargo cult monkeys.
