Former WWE writer Vince Russo has criticized Cody Rhodes for crying in his promos on Monday Night RAW.

Former WWE writer Vince Russo has criticized Cody Rhodes for crying in his promos on Monday Night RAW. Russo, appearing on Busted Open, expressed that casual fans, like himself, don’t want to see wrestlers cry.

>“Cody, get therapy, man. Every freaking week, this guy is going out, cutting promos, he can’t get through a promo without crying. Casual wrestling fans, we don’t want to see wrestlers cry, bro. We want to see men’s men, we want to see wrestlers, we want to see testosterone, bro. We don’t want to see namby-pamby crybabies.”

One thing that bugged me about his last cry sesh: "She's all I have left!"

Bullshit. You have a wife, daughter, siblings, millions of fans, money, fame, etc. Plenty of people his age have lost a parent. "She's all I have left. *cries*

I still like him, but b***h, please.

Feels like Rock is booking all this to make himself look better

        >Rock is doing really good work as an old, semi retired guy
        >The company’s top babyface is looking stilted and plastic in comparison

Somehow it’s Rock’s fault that Cody is slipping on the banana peel. Maybe Rock isn’t booking Cody to fail or writing his promos for him. Maybe Cody is good but just not as good as The Rock. Novel idea I know.

Everything in WWE is scripted and he's the most powerful guy in WWE after Ari

The scripted to fail theory falls flat when you remember he wrote his own promos in AEW, which
          >everyone says are worse than his WWE ones
          >still aren't on Rock's level
He just isn't a top guy. He is mid.

I think if anything it just proves that Cody can by a top babyface if the planets are in alignment and the pool can't be too big. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if part of Rock getting involved in this program is to test Cody, put him through his paces. Like if you can hang with The Rock (albeit his 50 and way past his prime) and walk away from this program having done great work+looking good you are equipped to carry this company as top babyface. If you drown and look like you didn't belong you weren't as ready as you thought, you were.

Cody historically even as The American Nightmare does GREAT heel work. But as someone else mentioned it's about his ego and willingness to turn heel. He really did leave AEW because him refusing to give up on his hokey babyface run and the failure to force it down the fans' throats no matter what left him in a position where he couldn't be the character that he wanted despite the fans.

The problem with the crying is not that it happened, it's that it happens ALL THE TIME. If it happened once or twice, ok fine our hero showed some vulnerability and is more relatable for it. But it has happened so many times I think everyone lost count. A grown man publicly crying on a regular basis, to the point that every time he gets the microphone you wonder if he's gonna cry (especially if muh family comes up) and you have to feel secondhand embarrassment for him. What makes it even worse is that Dusty died 9 years ago at age 69. After a certain amount of time you have to get over it - not in the sense that you don't miss him but at least don't get emotional every single time you mention him.

I say this as somewhat of a fan of Cody, we like you Codester but please stop fricking crying all the time

Yep. Exactly. At least save some tears for when/if you actually win the title damn.

And again, the, "she's all I have left" line. It's almost an insult to people that actually have very little in their lives. And comparatively, that's pretty much every single fan. He's one of the most blessed people ever. Not that I'm hating, but do't cry that your mom is all you have left. WTF.

It's no coincidence that MJF completely tanked his reputation with a series of crying promos, as expected from one of Cody's protoges. You play that card too often and you just become a b***h nobody gets behind anymore. Big Show is another example as once Vince found out he could do it he made sure he did it all the damn time.

He thought he was gonna beat the boss after respawning but the final boss 92d him and his dog . It's over before it even started. Chodey cried about his mommy. Memphis was Rocks Victory lap. Chodey should feed shit to Meltzer and run back to GayEW as soon as possible because he is exposed

It even took a while for Corny to turn on Cody in AEW. Brian Last was always trying to convince Corny that Cody sucked but it wasn’t until deep into the Codyverse that Corny started to shit on him.

Lol this. So much. Instead of feeling inspired or at least competitive to try and one up Rock and do their absolute best work they point fingers and cry "WAH WHY IS ROCK SO MUCH BETTER THAN ME RIGHT NOW. STOP HIM."

Pussies. The lot of them. Older generations in the biz were more fricking competitive than this. It's partially what made the Attitude Era so good. Everyone was gunning for top spots and trying to surpass each other instead of crying and pointing fingers/complaining how others are better than them instead of trying to meet that level.
