genuinely surprised how badly Cornette has damaged the psyche of AEW fans

Anytime someone posts something about Corny in Fhite it is almost immediately swarmed on with variations of "who cares about what this old racist, sexist misogynistic homophobe thinks!".
Is it some kind of call to arms and wasp-like "protect the queen" thing whenever Cornette is mentioned around AEW fans? It's SUPER bizarre.

I've never seen anything like it and it's hilarious. Like there is some kind of digital WANTED poster of his face floating around and they are all in the lookout for that terrible old man because of all the advice he gave which they all said was bad faith. But hey, 700k per week is pretty good from that I'm told so what do I know?

It has nothing to do with Cornette.

smarks know there were 3 major US companies. WWE, which Meltzer fabs tolerated. TNA, which Meltzer fans hated. And ROH, which Meltzer fans saw as the pinnacle.

ROH then became PWG then became NJPW then AEW. Common point? An insignificant bubble that never got criticism because those that didn't watch didn't care. But now that AEW is mainstream, those fans can't handle being treated like they treated TNA.

You'd argue that anyone that invested in a niche of a niche in entertainment, to the point of defending it with such force and by basically suspending any skill of critical thinking and logic, has already quite a damaged psyche to begin with.

They have invested so much into wrestling, into their ideal vision of wrestling, based in turn on a contradictory sense of superiority (actually wildly overcompensating a colossal inferiority complex in life), they can't accept their vision to be under scrutiny. Or, shock and horror, to be actually dismantled by facts and logic.

So anyone doing that is an enemy to destroy by any means necessary.

Yeah, they love throwing every possible "bad thing" he could possibly be out and seeing what sticks. The homophobic one SLAYS me because he said AEW didnt explain the Sonny Kiss gimmick to the audience when he first started in their world championship battle royal and they went into a motherfricking pearl-clutching frenzy!

I don't understand why for so many people it's an all it nothing type of attitude. Either you agree with every single thing he or AEW says or else you are OUT. Lol what? I don't agree with everything anyone does and no sane person does either. I can't fathom being such a follower that you no longer have your own opinions.

That’s always been the sticking point for me and you absolutely nailed it. I have no hatred for “fans” of ANY promotion, granted by this boards definition I’d be an “e-drone” because other than WCW, that’s just what I’ve always gravitated to and loved the most. But I’m not gonna act like no one or nothing in AEW or TNA is good shit, or something I at least like. All companies have their perks and hang ups, even “my” fed, the E definitely has problems still. But it’s when someone starts just…wholeheartedly defending or hating any given promotion just because “other team”. Like come one even the most die hard E fan or TNA fan would love to see MJF on our shows, he’s fricking great. Darby has done some cool stuff and I’ve always been a marks for dudes like him or Jeff Hardy, I just love the daredevil thing. Hell the Knockouts division is honestly pretty solid, and I’d like to see some of them in WWE. I just don’t understand the point of acting like “noooo only WWE/AEW/TNA/Stardom/Whatever is any good, literally everything else is bad and the fans are stupid and I hate them.” It’s just lazy, like you don’t want to put in the effort to make your own opinion so you just decide it’s easier to become the worker bee and defend your chosen queen. It’s just lazy at best, idiotically malicious at worst.

        >why the TNA hate?
TNA before Hogan and Bischoff, dimes. TNA after them sucked, basically because they tried to do exactly what they did with WCW, to include restarting the Monday Night Wars. Aces and Eights was their NWO faction. It was shit. Pre-Hogan TNA written by Russo was a solid option to WWE when there was pretty much no other promos.

Just consistently moronic booking and decision making. The best example is Spike explicitly stating not to hire Russo, only to find out that Dixie was using him behind their backs for a while. And Spike, just as a reminder, was the only company willing to pick them up for having the name "TNA" which was chosen as a juvenile joke. Just indicative that there was always dumb shit going on. At least when Vince would booked something like shit, more often than not, he thought he was doing something that was better for business overall. Super Cena, for example, sold a frickton of merch and tickets for live events.
People will say it was Hogan/Bischoff (even though the show was already going to shit before they were hired, and did some of their best business during that era), or some other specific smark bullshit, but the truth is TNA has generally always been incompetent. Even during TNA's golden era from 2004ish to the beginning of 2009, the company was wrought with moronic decision making. Bad creative, bad business.

Dude, none of this is true and most of it was bullshit spun by Bischoff, feuled by comments Russo made himself probably thinking he was a genius and generating heat because Russo does say stupid shit. But the fact remains, Spike never had a problem with Russo. Mike Johnson (no fan of Russo's) reported this. Spike executives echoes this on the record. The problem was Dixie hardballing Spike for more money and they told her to walk. And the ratings before Hogan/Bischoff in 2009 would regularly hit about 1.3 million. They briefly hit 2 million, with a Hogan/Bischoff Monday Night Impact in 2010, but then fell off the cliff and never climbed over 1 million again. The entire Monday Night Hogan/Bischoff shitshow actually took Impact's 2010 average ratings down to 1.06 from 1.14 in 2009. Yeah, Russo is a sperg, but Jarrett could filter out his stupid shit and make it work. People hate Russo, but without guys like him, wrestling becomes really boring really fast and he doesn't get the credit he deserves. The fact remains, Russo's Impact literally outdrew peak Hogan/Bischoff Impact and Dixie pulling a Tony/WBD with Spike is what killed TNA/Impact. And they changed the name to Impact in 2011 so that literally had no bearing on contract negotiations with anyone.

Most wrestling media and personalities seemed hesitant to critique the product in its first couple of years. Many fans didn't hear their opinions or thoughts on wrestling from many of these outlets and discovered that Cornette shared many of their opinions. I think that really helped him build the following being the only person speaking out about some of the issues with AEW. Now we're seeing more people who were in the wrestling business like Eric Bischoff, Bruce Prichard and Kevin Nash speaking candidly about what they think makes good wrestling and now there is more critique on AEW than ever. Dave Meltzer doesn't run the wrestling media anymore as more wrestling personalities enter the space and share their first hand knowledge and experience.

I actually got back into wrestling last year because of an AEW fan. I had a post pop up on my front page with a picture of an almost empty arena. I made some dumb joke about the attendance, and then some guy freaked out on me. He got even angrier when I told him I had no idea what AEW even was. He was so butt hurt that he spent time going through my comment section and googling to find a way to mock me, which failed miserably since I dont spend my life obsessing over the things I like. But because I was bored, I decided to see what AEW was all about, and holy shit! I watched the Cornette commentary for the exploding barbed wire match.

Since then, I've become a huge fan of Cornette and almost a bigger fan of the spectacle of AEW and their unhinged fan base. They're basically a cult who live in their own distorted reality.

It's not just him. People are shut ins and online 24/7. They go to pages they know will 'trigger' them, too. Cornette is damaging wrestling and AEW, but it's not his fault it got worse and worse. Well, maybe it's a tiny bit down to him, as you never know what wrestlers are influenced by him. But AEW being trash is down to Tony. The AEWgays can deny it all they want, but that's the bottom line.

  7. 4 weeks ago
    Anonymous

It’s because while he does go extreme with his insults, his criticisms of how poorly booked and nonsensical a lot of the wrestling is, are generally right, that all the matches seem to be made by a mark booker, and performed for an indie minded audience that causes the show to suffer the way it does.

The line that always rings true… who the hell are you pushing? When they have their new champ, or anyone they want you to take serious is having. 15-20 minute matches with talent no one knows or cares about.

Unfortunately, AEW (specifically TK) is it's own worst enemy. By making incendiary statements (WWE = Weknstein, 'sports based presentation', WCW level booking etc.) They have a lot of potential in their talent, but give way too much creative control to individuals.

It's really that fricking simple. People see moron midgets doing backflips and think it sucks and they would like to talk to other people that think it sucks too. The problem is AEW fans insert themselves into every conversation and are so fricking annoying that hating on AEW has become a pastime. It's not a cult. They don't like wrestling, they like hating wrestling which is why they are obsessed with AEW. Nobody wants them in the AEW fanbase, but they refuse to leave.

He has and continues to do significant damage to AEW, poisoning its fanbase and upsetting the dynamic between fans and talent. At Dynamite last night there was some fat c**t with a CORNETTE IS GOD sign. Two of the main AEW acts have gimmicks right now which are defense responses to Cornette poisoning people's minds over them, the Bucks and Jericho. His fans are anti-wrestling parasites who won't leave AEW alone despite openly hating it. He does this damage and he provides nothing positive for the company. I absolutely hate him as an AEW fan and there's no reason I shouldn't. I expect other fans feel the same. Any Cornette fan who goes to an AEW show should not leave without getting injured..

I hate cornette, but the bucks DO have go away heat, I like Kenny, I don't like the Bucks. It's really that simple, the Bucks are anti-draws, I'm really happy that they've paired with Jungle Boy instead of Kenny because now I can skip their dimeless segments without skipping Kenny.

Cornette is one of the protosmarks. Almost everything he hates in modern wrestling is partially his fault. Some in ways he should have seen coming. Some in ways he couldn't have imagined.

They're parasites who latch onto something and drag it down with hatred, disrespect and negativity. They are the smark cancer in modern wrestling, not the people who actually enjoy it.

      >Cornette is one of the protosmarks. Almost everything he hates in modern wrestling is partially his fault.
This is absolutely true. I've pointed out before to these trannies that Cornette is Ubersmark. The dude was such a annoying smark that Jerry Jarrett realized he could make money from Cornette's smarkiness. The reason why these homosexuals hate Cornette is that's he's just better than them at being an OCD-afflicted, mommy-supported wresting moron. It's pure jealousy from the AEW fanbase. They will never be the smark that Cornette is, so all they can do us try to tear him down.

hes one of the good ones, aka hates breaking kayfabe and exposing the business
i dont agree with how he wants it to be like a sport, but the actual show keeping kayfabe is the first way to fix wrestling, and bischoff/meltzer are the ones who killed its popularity with their shoot shit. we know its fake sure but people know 99 percent of tv shows are fake they still watch due to the good story

Cornette has been fairly consistent on his criticisms on AEW
moronic booking, too many chefs in the kitchen (EVPs), salaries not making sense, and it's tendencies to diminish top billing titles into a midcard title like what they're doing with Swerve

I would like Cornette more if he didn't remind the audience he believes every mainstream narrative about Donald Trump, and then veer into how he's an atheist and how it isn't shameful if other men frick his wife. It's just him verbally falling down some stairs and revealing he is a midwit but a midwit with persistent experience with professional wrestling (the thing he should actually stick to talking about.)

  30. 4 weeks ago

I think most Cornette fans haven't actually seen Cornette's booking in action. They've only seen clips of SMW unless they're some old mountain hick that could have watched the show on a regional affiliate 30 years ago. Those clips were carried by based New Jack.

Nobody watched OVW. Nobody watched ROH. Nobody watches ROH to this day.

i think its because he has so much money tony cant buy him off. theres such a disconnect between what the wrestling media says about aew and what wrestling fans think about it that hes become popular, because for fans its refreshing to hear someone who isnt trying to spin a toxic positivity narrative against all evidence.

Why should anyone care what this diaper-wearing moron thinks? His Podcast is nonsensical jibberish. I'm surprised he's able to read, honestly. He has never provided anything of value to anyone at any point in his life (No wonder why that worthless nobody, homosexual Phil likes him lmao). I mean, he thinks that Wrestling is a sport. A SPORT. How can anyone over the age of 4 years old take him seriously? He thinks that wrestling is real. He has severe brain damage. Just look at the moronic little drawings he has in his YouTube videos. You should be embarrassed if you listen to him.

      >Why should anyone care what this diaper-wearing moron thinks?
You clearly do. You literally can't not care about what Cornette says. It's why everyone hates AEW trannies. The joshi pedos are unironically way more creepy than AEW trannies, but the joshi pedos stay to themselves in their weird ass threads. You homosexuals literally seek out negative attention anywhere you can find it. It's like you are addicted to people hating you so you just make yourself even more hateable.

        >His entire podcast output is seething about AEW
You don't understand. It's not seething. Its Catharsis. I hate Cornette. Like, I find the dude completely repulsive. I also find joshi pedos repulsive. I also hate deathmatch wrestling and I can't stand homosexuals that shoot their load over NOAH, NJPW, etc. But the one thing that unites us all and gives us common ground is AEW fans. We are all so collectively annoyed by the visual shit of AEW and the subsequent astroturfing it's "fanbase" spreads in literally every thread in every corner of the internet that it's fun to listen to Cornette rant about rendering Kenny Omega's bodyfat into soap. Because we all feel exactly the same way. Because AEW is literally that fricking annoying and it's fans are that shitty.
        >inb4, muh ... it's heat, you are supposed to get heat in wrestling
You are supposed to get heat to build up the heel matches with the face to get people to tune in. This isn't that kind of heat. It's turn the channel heat. It's "I don't care if they reincarnated the Warrior and put him in the ring with Hogan on AEW I'm still not watching" heat. It's "even if Anna Jay strap-on fricked Mariah May on Collision I'm still not watching" heat. It's beyond fricking stupid. They only way I would watch AEW again is if they publicly executed the Bucks and Kenny and Tony threw himself upon their funeral pyres live on Dynamite.

Any dissent does. Remember the onlyfans girl who got barely 5k views on AEW vids and who got tackled by Tony himself?
