Mercedes Mone drew like 9,000 last week, that's more than Kurt Angle in his prime could draw in nearly a decade as the face of TNA

It's amazing how Goldberg became such a big time megastar in just under a year. He was just as big as Austin, if not more.

And then Nash booked himself to go over Goldberg lmao

Which really hurt their momentum going into 1999. They were still getting decent ratings, but by March-April 99 it was all downhill from there.

It wasn't Nash going over that killed the momentum. Nash wasn't goldberg-tier but he was plenty popular enough, this was the peak of his popularity with the Wolfpack. What killed WCW was what happened on Nitro 8 days later.

Finger poke of Doom was the final in the coffin. I think had they had Goldberg get his win back as originally planned they would've been better off in 99. By the time they did it in April most people had stopped caring by that point.

Finger Poke was nothing but an angle that drew interest that it increased ratings and helped SuperBrawl draw a ppv buyrate on par with Austin vs. Mcmahon that same month.

There was many nails in coffins and the finger poke wasn't one of them.

Hall, & Luger got injured in Feb 99. Hogan, Steiner, Goldberg got injured in May. Bret Hart went on leave after Owen died in May. LOSING THIS STAR POWER is nails in coffin... maybe.

But at end of day nail in coffin was meger, Ted turner losing control, and all that Jazz. it wasn't a fricking wrestling angle. It was the business behind the business and the suits behind it many who didn't like wrestling and never wanted it on TNT/TBS.

The problem with Goldberg is that he was a bandaid. He was amazingly over, probably the most over wrestler in history, but that was never gonna last because what made him over is the undefeated booking. Now Sting... that's who the WCW storyline fricked up. Hogan kept booking himself as the top guy long past his expiration date.

Sting should have become the guy at Starrcade, Hogan and the nWo should have devolved into a civil war and Sting and Goldberg should have carried the company into new heights as Hogan and the nWo were slowly phased out. But alas...

Also, that 'Hogan vs Nash' match was initially advertised as the rematch between Goldberg vs Nash before it was changed while the show was happening. So Goldberg was the biggest draw and homegrown star WCW ever produced.

He was one of the biggest stars ever so how is that an insult to WCW?

I don't know what you meant by this, but no one said it was.

Goldberg vs. Bigelow match is actually a Goldberg vs. Bigelow vs. Nash 3 way match. Nash said earlier in show he was making it a 3 way dance. Then made it one during main event. Nobody was paying to see Bigelow. Crowd was full of Wolfpack merch and signs.

Goldberg vs. Hall match was the go-home to Starrcade 1998 (headlined by nash vs Goldberg whch was 3rd best PPv buyrate and broke WCW PPV gate record and the gate record for Washingston) so Nash was in Hall's corner.

Hogan vs. Goldberg match in a little known fact nobody mentions - Newspapers promoted Hogan and Sting as the two top stars of the show. They also advertised 6 other stars (smaller pics) which i recall as being Luger, Hennig, Savage, Nash, Goldberg, & I forget other one. But the ad is no making it clear Hogan and Sting are the two big attractions.

Nash is used to having 3-way "dances"

    >AEW is wildly inconsistent
it's almost like that too aew number was a lie

When you talk about lies, it has to be WWE constantly claiming more people than the buildings even fit.

Can we please finally stop pretending Kurt Angle was good? He never had memorable matches, TNA came when WWE was doing like 6 million viewers and attendance was in the gutter.

So AEW has two shows with a bigger attendance than anything from WCW and a billion dollar tv deal on the way. Time to admit AEW has surpassed WCW by every metric.
