In the past two years, WWE has signed possibly twice as much ex-AEW talent as AEW has signed ex-WWE talent. Tony has even passed on names like Dolph Ziggler, who everyone thought was a no-brainer due to his connections within AEW.
With numerous WWE contracts reportedly expiring this summer and various names simultaneously exiting AEW, will we see Tony put away the NJPW crack pipe and pick up another yummy toy fresh out of the fed? Or has Tony begun to lose the negotiating battle, apart from landing established veterans who are looking for a change in scenery? Has Tony himself become disillusioned with ex-WWE talent due to the backstage politicking of wrestlers like Miro? Is it gay even if the balls don't touch?

I'd say this, people like him, Keith lee, Andrade and Malakai have probably soured Tony on signing as many ex-wwe wrestlers

Ziggler refused a contract with AEW for the moment as he doesn't want to sign anything long-term

    >the negotiating battle

lmao what? The only people he's "lost" a bidding war over signed to WWE because they want that initialism on their paycheque.

Since Vince got canned has anyone willingly went over from WWE to AEW? Edge I guess but that's all I can think of. People wanna work for The Game.

Roderick Strong, but he disappeared from NXT for like a year and there's not a single wrestler more fitting for AEW than Roderick Strong so I don't even know if he counts

Actual wrestlers don't want to go work in the paki shop for the curry stained money. Regal said it himself, "I don't want to work in a paki shop". Sad yet true

William Regal is a well respected man and much smarter than you so if he says working in a paki shop is bad I trust him

Who would you bring in from WWE? They currently have one of their worst rosters of all time.

Elite TITAN here, I'd take Gable. His contract is up this week and still hasn't re-signed btw

I joked about Tony Khan needing new toys but HHH is infinitely worse about it. He’ll sign any Samoan or any forgettable white guy from AEW. Plus you know full well he’s got Arn Anderson coming in to manage Cody and that’ll suck ass.

Armed Anderson was kino in AEW obviously that won't happen in WWE

      >Tony has even passed on names like Dolph Ziggler
Ziggler recently said he turned down a contract. He's just running the indies for the frick of it and he'll likely be back in the WWE in one of those sit backstage and do nothing for the rest of your life roles in a couple of years.
That being said, I think TK or whoever the frick his handler is nowadays realized that maybe hiring every single E-ject from the jobbiest of jobbers to higher up the card isn't exactly a smart idea because 99% of them will charge out the ass and not pop the rating at all except in their debut segment/match

      >hiring every single E-ject

Reminder that Paul hired Kross & Dolla. TWICE.

if anything, hiring people that WWE barely used is a better idea than already established guys

No matter how many stars you sign in football, you can only have 11 on the field at a time. Basketball, 5 at a time. In wrestling, once the rotation gets too big, guys get lost in the shuffle and go from being superstars to afterthoughts. AEW doesn't need to sign more stars, it needs to create them. It doesn't need to hand out big contracts to outsiders, it needs to give fat raises to existing talent to boost morale. "AEW has enough money to sign your favorites hahahahaha we're going to sign them all, dronie" isn't the flex AEW fan thinks it is.

In 2019 everyone knew WWE was a shitty place to work. In 2024 everyone knows AEW is a shitty place to work.
