euro has always been every 4 years, copa was played more often, while euro had meme winners, cop did too. for decades copa games before the semis had no extra time and went directly to the penalty shootout which can help meme teams to advance against big teams. it's nowadays almost impossible for a big NT to not qualify for the ko stage so the level of the competition is higher in the ko stage. anyway it's definitly easier for argentina and brazil to win the copa than it is for strong contenders at the euro to win it.

Euros is harder, but Copa has more SOUL

If you picked two teams of the same quality, one from South America, one from Europe, the European team would have a lower probability of winning their comp just due to format alone. They have a non-zero chance of not qualifying and an extra knockout round to get through.

Euros because it has more strong teams. Copa is mostly Argentina and Brazil.

copa america is harder to win if you're not part of the big 4 (big 3 + fotm team, this time it's ecuador or colombia). i don't think it's hard to win euros against the current neutered european sides either. i mean, who's even there? toloi? gavi and pedri? musiala? harry kane?

Of course it isn't. If you're Ecuador you qualify automatically. If you're a comparable Euro side like Poland or Serbia (closest in FIFA rankings) you're about 66% to even get to the finals.

        >If you're Ecuador you qualify automatically
Of course, there's only like 10 countries in South America.
Do you want us to balkanize just for the sake of a more competitive tournament?

I'm just saying its clearly not harder when the format requires you to do less to win.

You play less games but there's a 10% of not stumbling with a team that's better than yours in any of the earlier stages.

The great thing about the copa mickey mouse is that even if you repeatedly choke, you can just do another the next year, and the next year until you win one.

Argentina had to win against Brasil, Colombia and Ecuador to be champion last edition (after groups ofc). Every single one of them is a decent team.
Italy had to beat England (lmao), Spain (in 2020 LMAO), Lelgium and Austria.

Colombia and Ecuador combined have played five knockout games at the World Cup throughout history. They've won one.

you forgot the little detail about their roster having a series of world class players at their prime and two excellent managers for the job.
its like a budget version of the 2008-2012 Spanish squad, but without a WC and instead of falling off because their playstyle got figured out, they fell off because their players got old. Chile with better draws would have reached a CL final in 2014-2018, i assure you.

Depends what country you are from
Its harder for Peru to win a copa america than what it is to denmark or belgium to win a Euro
But, its easier for argentina and brasil to win a copa american than what it is for germany, spain, italy, england, etc etc etc.
Reminder than copa america is usually a riggfest for goverments where the host usually wins with easy fixtures and controversial calls.

copa is a mickey mouse cup and it's time sudacas own up to it, realize it and accept it.

They still have brazil and sometime riggertina wiinning something on real international level. So it's good no?

  17. 3 weeks ago
    Anonymous

also yes, copa is harder for teams outside of the big 3 because they are san marino tier

while most euro nation can destroy and sudaca. Big 3 of south america are comparable to big 3 of europe (france italy germany), with europe haaving more WC and WC winners.

So basically, if you are brazilian, copa memerica is easy, if you are peruvian, it's super hard.
If you are a european it's always hard but not as hard as peru shitters trying to beat brazil
