He got injured and Zidane (an actual fraud) led Juve to 7th, he was elite. easily mogs the best players today

You must surely be confused with your compatriot Mohamed Zidan

No he is right, Zidane at club level was mostly a fraud and probably the most overrated player in history. He is remembered because 4 or 5 performances while the rest of his career he was mostly a ghost that did 1 roulette every once in a while. I would take prime Pirlo over Prime Zidane any day of the week to build a winning squad

All that playing in the 90s, against Ronaldo's Inter, Zidane's France, and Galacticos Madrid.

    Dybala wasn't even a Tevez.

KEEEEEEEEEEEK his WC contribute is close to zero
He scored the late 2-0 in that semifinal and that's it. He wasn't even starting

Italian football was very rough back then. Absolute ballers like Laudrup failed to make it there, so Del Piero was definetly good, but probably closer to Raul tier than what he got rated back then

      >World Cup winner
      >UCL winner
      >97-98 UCL top scorer
      >Serie A top scorer
All that playing in the 90s, against Ronaldo's Inter, Zidane's France, and Galacticos Madrid.

      Dybala wasn't even a Tevez.

Juve had the best team in the world for half a decade and won only 1 CL. Raul with a shittier team carried harder and won 3 CL, rating Del Piero a lot higher than Raul is pleb tier

        Anonymous

I’ll argue Del Piero was rated exactly like Raul back then.

Yes, rightly just a couple levels behind Micheal Owen

          >back then
Depends on the country, but if you look at Ballon D'or voting Raul was not even in the same tier as fricking Owen, when he carried very shitty Madrid squads to league and CL titles. People just associate Raul with his bum version (he aged horribly) but his first years at Madrid were pretty insane and he was arguably the most consistent player in the Galacticos era

            Anonymous

Raul was the most decisive CL player for like 5 seasons. rewatched some old games last year and his influence on the pitch was immeasurable. an insanely competitive footballer.

            Anonymous

Raul was on the same tier as Totti and Del Piero, if not higher despite winning more, his playmaking is also highly underrared and if you hear some boomers they just paint him as a poacher for some odd reason. Idk why his early career (outside of Madrid) is so underrated when he won so much

They gave him a ballon d'or because he scored 3 goals in a world cup qualifying game. And then bongs have the audacity of claiming their players are underrated

He was very good and underrated because of how marketable he was

            Anonymous

This is the correct take, his marketability brought him a lot of fans that weren't into football (my mum can name 4 footballers: Messi, Ronaldo, Lewandowski and Beckham) but it made football fans resent him and treat him like a good looking sideshow rather than a genuine world class footballer

imo that era was better than the Messi/Ronaldo era because there were like 40 players who were all competing at a massive level together and could be the best in the world on any given day. Ballon Dor was actually interesting and your favorite player said something about the style of football you liked.

As much as i consider israeliteventus a cancer both for italian football and Italy as a country - Their ~~*Agnelli*~~ overlords -, Del Piero was indeed one of the strongest italian playes of all time.

And he somehow still remained world class tier even after KWABing his knee without hope of full recovery in late '98

In contrast Balbo was elite striker during the best years of the league with the hardest defense, from like 92 to 99 he was always a top 10 scorer, several times top 3.
Yet almost no one even knows about him even here.

The fraudalent English duo of Gerrard+Lampard had to be up there. Their teams always played like shit (they basically were just good at shooting and hoffballing) and when they played together in England it was pathetic

      While I agree with you:
      >they basically were just good at shooting and hoffballing
      A player with a shooting quality like them would easily be a goat nowadays. It's kinda bizarre how no midfielders can shoot anymore (let's not even enter in the free-kick taking issue that haunts football today);

        Anonymous

Kroos and Modric were great long range shooting. What I have read is that they changed the ball so free kicks and long shots are harder (idk if it is bullshit but still)
