I can’t believe they invested so much into Roman Reigns. For what? Just to get mogged by The Rock the second he comes back? Doesn’t feel like a dominant champion that’s had a 1000+ day run at all. Doesn’t look like it either. Unimpressive look at this point, shit matches, boring promos, barely shows up. What a waste of time.

I'll be real with you: Roman does not belong anywhere near there.
It took him over 8 years of being in WWE and fricking CANCER for him to get his shit together. Then he had two years where he did participate, but he was CARRIED by his faction. Roman has and always will be a sum of a greater whole. There is no Tribal Chief without the Bloodline, and there is no Roman Reigns without his samoan heritage and constant interruptions. He's a sham of a champion. When he has a good singles career and can cut a good promo consistently by himself, let me know. Then we can talk.

Roman wasn't supposed to drop the title at 40 and they had to pivot due to the backlash, now he has to and he's not happy. Per my sources.

I would be genuinely shocked if that homie actually refused to drop the belt before. He was a part time leader of a damn stable, he wasn't gonna last like this. Do I think it should be Roman instead of Rock giving Cody the beatdown? Absolutely. But none of us know what's happening in creative, because I doubt they're this damn obtuse. They have to know the entire situation is a stretch.
Hopefully next week Roman will remind us why he is the real final boss and the one we should be focused on. Or maybe this Friday.

Someone posted a couple of days ago, that if Roman refuses to drop the title at Mania, Hunter will publicly strip Roman of the unified titles and award them to Cody and then openly bury Roman by saying he's a cowardly shit who was scared of facing Cody. And then have Undertaker show up to basically put Cody over in an impromptu match to solidify Cody as the new face and Roman as a cowardly little shitter who is basically is fired from the company.

the idea of Roman being a huge mark and refusing to drop the title has always seemed to odd to me but i remember a really old post that Romans dameonar has changed in recent years

Probably just being a little wienery since he's finally over and using his cancer treatments or long title reign as an excuse to keep the belt.

Well, Roman is being pushed for this feud. The thing is the Rock is the bigger threat to Cody winning this and Roman still has limited dates and is on SD.

If Cody fails to beat the Rock on N1, then it's basically a 4-5on1 and Cody will have to overcome even worse odds. Rock is also a member of the Board of Directors, so he can do all kinds of shady shit to make things worse.

Personally, I think Cody loses Night 1 since the 4-5on1 adds more sympathy and underdog status and then Cody finds a way to overcome all the odds.

To be fair, it was Vince's insistence on making Roman into a white meat babyface and constantly fought against the fans wanting a heel Roman that caused what happened.

        >He feels like such an afterthought now.
        Because he is an afterthought.

It's Cody's story, and Roman just happens to be the one holding the belt. The Rock makes the story more interesting than Roman possibly could alone.

The WWE Mount Rushmore, is Bruno, Hogan, Rock, and Cena. Roman Reigns is not even in the conversation. Austin, Undertaker, Hunter, Andre, Backlund, and Bret would all be far more deserving of consideration than Roman.

          Anonymous

          WWF/E’s objective Rushmore is

          >Hogan
          >Rock
          >Austin
          >Undertaker

The only merits that Cena has to be in Taker’s spot MAYBE is his being the perfect company man and child favorite during his years. Make a wish, has done a ton of good deeds and all.

            Anonymous

I don't dispute that Taker was objectively a better wrestler than Cena, but ask the average person on the street, and they'll tell you Cena was the bigger star.

Millennials and Zoomers may not get it, but Bruno has to be on there, too.

And Austin, as much as I love him, and as historically over as he was at his peak, simply didn't have the longevity.

            Anonymous

You have to be shoot moronic to think Austin doesn't belong on a WWF/E Mt. Rushmore.

            Anonymous

Well, I'll concede this much: he belongs there as much as Teddy Roosevelt belongs on the actual Rushmore (which is not at all: should have been Jackson).

But I'll continue to maintain that, because:

            1. Austin wasn't a top guy for long enough to qualify.
            2. The Attitude Era is already represented by the Rock, who ultimately surpassed Austin as a star by a long way.

            Anonymous

Austin saved the WWF and was the #1 guy when they had 5-7 times the TV viewership they have now. The number of eyeballs he brought to the product skyrocketed the company into the middle of the mainstream for 3 solid years, and it coasted off of that public good will for many years after that. The Rock himself wouldn't have been at the level he was without Austin, and they both left the company at roughly the same time anyway, so the longevity issue comes down to age and injury, not public acceptance.

            Anonymous

If it were only about wrestling, I'd put Austin on there with Hogan, Cena, and Bruno, and leave the Rock off. But it's hard to do that when the Rock achieved a level of stardom outside of wrestling that no other wrestler has ever come close to.

            Anonymous

So here's the problem is "The Rock is the biggest star outside of wrestling" argument.
What exactly has that done for WWE?
If Rock is so "big" outside of wrestling, why isn't EVERY single time he's on post Hollywood a huge jump in ratings?
People seriously overestimate him being able to do box offices being an advantage for his career, because whether people want to admit it or not, the Rock only brings in a slight bump. Even Monday's statistics show you, I think it only went up around 100K. But that was also becayse CM Punk was advertised as the main attraction, so it's not even due to him alone. And I know, it sounds silly to think of 100K as small, but objectively, in a business, if it wasn't more than 300K for Rock HIMSELF, using his hollywood status as a benefit is actually worthless when it has seemingly done nothing for the business over the past 10+ years. It hasn't brought sponsors, new wrestlers, big cross promotions, just more shilling for whatever movie slop he's in next.

Honestly, that's why I hope they don't have him win this. Roman does not deserve to pass Hogan, period. Hogan is probably THE biggest influence on wrestling as a whole ever.

If someone is going to take that from Hogan, they need to be there, defending the belt, inspiring people, selling merch, and so much more. Someone who can actually carry the company on their back for basically half a century.

If Roman passes Hulk, he's going to go down as an absentee champion that never defended his title and when he did, only won because of outside interference. About 70% of his very few matches have been won due to interference. Does that scream "I deserve the record" to anyone? It sure doesn't to me.

I know everyone thinks Rock is going to turn on Roman at Mania but what if the Swerve is that Rock actually remains loyal but it’s Roman that turns on Rock because he can’t take being overshadowed anymore and the internal conflict/Roman attacking or getting into an argument with Rock costs him the match.

The only way to save it right now is for Roman to reveal on Smackdown that he sent Rock to attack Cody.
And then Cody, running in, tries to assault Roman out of rage and being a wounded animal. Bloodline surrounds him, Seth and Jey make a run in, they back off.
Or, you have Rock intercept the group, saying "wouldn't you rather do this on the biggest stage to cement it as eternal humiliation?" Or something.

It's setting up Rock turning on Roman and kicking him out of the Bloodline when he loses so Roman can come back as a lone wolf babyface to set up Rock vs. Roman in what would probably be Rock's last match. Cody's brought up to Roman on camera Rock is stealing his limelight and his place so it's intentional.

  16. 3 weeks ago

Because no one cares about Roman. If they tried to build the night two main event just around Roman and Cody, people would go
    >Meh, hope the Codemeister wins

    >HOLY SHIT KINO CODEMEISTER IS BASED AF, ROCKY IS A BADASS MFER I NEED TO WATCH BOTH NIGHTS

  17. 3 weeks ago

From Roman’s point of view this is in the bag. He’s beat Cody before, he’s gonna get a bloodline rules match, he has The Rock in his corner who now owns part of the company. He’s not taking it seriously. So when he’s caught with his pants down and loses, Rock has a reason to take the Bloodline and title of Tribal Chief away from him.

Plus they’re obviously wanting to turn him face, so they can’t have him bloodying Rhodes right before his turn. We’ll get Rock/Cody at SummerSlam with Cody potentially dropping the belt, and Roman can have yet another babyface coronation at Mania against Rock.

They have to pretend like the Rock is really mad at Cody, when we all know the Rock is just going to betray Roman at Mania.

Here's how it's going to go down.
    - Night 1 the Rock will pin Cody setting up the "Bloodline rules" for night 2.
    - Night 2 Rock will be the guest referee per the Bloodline rules.
    - Solo and Jimmy will come in, get their licks on Cody, but eventually Jey and someone else will come in to chase off the Bloodline.
    - Roman will spear the ever-loving shit out of Cody and the Rock will start counting, 1, 2, ....and he won't count the 3.
    - Rock sits there with his arm in the air, staring down Roman; this was all a setup.
    - Rock and Roman will fight a bit.
    - Eventually Cody will take advantage of that moment, hit Roman with the Cross Rhodes and pin him for the win.

It's only fair that the "champion" with the least defenses and most interference wins in a long long time lose to some interference himself.

This does so many things as well; it let's Cody finish his story, it sets up Roman v Rock, and it sets up Roman for a rematch against Cody at some point as he'll need SOMEONE to challenge. Roman rematch, probably at Survivor Series, then Rock v Roman for Mania 41.

doing this buries Cody and winning unfairly is not a babyface thing to do.

I think Rock will turn on Roman for losing, but not before.

        Anonymous

It 100% does not bury Cody.

The way I described it basically makes it like Cody and the Rock did what they did to stop the constant cheating the Bloodline does. This isn't old school black and white babyface / heel time either. People WANT Cody to win.

The only semi-heel thing being done there is by the Rock in not finishing the count. Cody will still win because HE finishes the fight. The Rock still gets tons of cheers even as heel Rock and doing what I described instantly reverts him back to babyface Rock as well.

That goes doubly so if Cody holds the title, then defends it against Roman later and wins again, completely clean and without ANY interference from either side.

          Anonymous

this assumes they'll turn Rock babyface, which at this point i highly doubt because of the bloody beatdown we just saw.

this weakens Cody because it shows he didn't overcome the odds in a feel good way. Rock had to stop the count for him not to lose
