There's a laserbeam there, checking for the vaxxopod cells in your body. If it detects vaxxoid microbots the player is deemed a good goy and therefore onside. Meanwhile the pureblood defender will get a card for trying to stop him. This HUMILIATION RITUAL is meant to cover the fact that more and more players DIE on the pitch from the VAXX .

Having been a FIFA-gay for many years, I can promise you the IRL effect will be the same as the video game. When teams are just trying to hit runners on the break because they think it’s easier, it’ll lead to even more drastic drop back defending and games will just be one shitty counterattack attempt after another.

This. It won't increase scoring it will create 5-1-4 formations with half of each team sitting in their own final 3rd and not pressing to avoid getting ngubu-spammed on the counter.

My men's league tried this about 4-5 years ago and they changed the rules back to normal after 2 weeks because all the games ended 0-0 and literally nothing happened except people complaining to the league office for being fricking morons.

Here's how you fix offside: It's play only stops if the offside player shoots at the goal, play continues otherwise.

Meaning, an offside player can get the ball and assist someone, but he itself cannot score until he goes back to being onside again.

        Anonymous

Why? The only thing I see is teams purposely sending a player to playmake from offside but that's no big deal to me

          Anonymous

          ???
You'll have people permanently sitting near the corner waiting for hoofs. Then more teams will have like 6 defenders and 4 attackers, no midfield needed. It'll be a hoofball fest.

            Anonymous

Ahn? Why would you roofball? There's no advantage in that because the rest of the team still needs to be onside and the offside guy can not score. If anything they could put the GK out to mark the offside guy and keep the defensive line at midfield, that's the more extreme thing I can think of in this situation. And you can easily solve that by simply giving and advantage rule to offside, if you are offside but you passed within the next 5s or something then its ok

            Anonymous

You receive the ball "offside" and pass it backwards, since backward passes do not trigger offside. You'll permanently sit offside waiting for a long ball and just pass it to a teammate behind you.

            Anonymous

Sure, but the receiving guy has to be onside, and who dictates who is onside? The defense. So for this to be effective the guy has to be close to the offside line and with the advantage line he has to go back onside or pass it backwards before 5s, how is that a problem? It just adds one dimension to offside without stopping the game, the guy might lose the ball, might go onside and lose the timing of the counter, pass it back but not really help the offense, whatever. Though in theory you could do infinite onside-offside 1-2s and that would be funny as frick, but hard as hell to do it too so whatever

            Anonymous

As was just explained to you, passing to a teammate who is level with or behind you is never offside regardless of the position of any defenders. Teams could invalidate high lines by having 2 forwards camp out in the opponent's box. One receives the hoofball, he passes to the other who then scores. To prevent this and other instant overloads in dangerous positions, you'd have to defend 1:1 at all times. If they leave three men in your box, you need to leave three defenders. This basically makes attacking football impossible because it's too dangerous to create overloads high up the pitch; low blocks would be impenetrable.
If that doesn't convince you, think about how much grief control-focused sides like City and Arsenal go through just to reliably advance the ball into opponent territory, even before they've tried to create any chances. Possessing the ball high up the pitch is extremely valuable in of itself even if the player on the ball can't score. There is a battle for space in football, and you idea for the offsides rule would allow teams to win it instantly against any team fielding a high line - which makes high lines inviable and low blocks necessary and 0-0 every game.

You're not allowed to touch the ball with your arm so it doesn't count. It's arbitrary but that's the logic.
