the most important thing is academy training, not the U13

          Anonymous

Yeah there are tons of USL and MLS academies now that are basically free. They also networks with clubs in La Liga and Bundesliga to feed them players. That’s why you see so many 17-18 year old American kids getting picked up by Euro clubs now. Man City is trying to get a 14 year old named Cavan Sullivan who they said was the best 14 year old in the world, he’s a product of an American Academy. The process US soccer has made in the last 5 years is insane

            Anonymous

Cavan has been #1 in his age group for a few years now.

Everyone is very hesitant to hype him up too much though because of the Freddy Adu saga.

Freddy Adu saga was almost 20 ueats ago when we had no real academies. Things have changed but I agree there’s a chance for him to be a bust, however we have over 100+ u18s that are talented and more and more are being produced everyday. It means the system is getting better, we need at least 100-300 player pool to match England which is very possible. La Liga, Serie A, and Bundesliga should be the focus for these younger player instead of PL due to the clear anti-American bias there

Being the best at 14 doesn't mean anything. That's an age group where you can be top percentile simply because you grow big quicker than the rest.

Freddy Adu played for scraps in Swedish third tier league. That's like 2000 USD/month and a part time job. He wasn't even close to being competitive professionally, he was an amateur footballer.

            Anonymous

Yes which I also mentioned. We're scared to hype up Cavan because of Adu. I literally said that above, but it doesn't change the fact Cavan is seen by Euro scouts, Man City, Transfermarkt, etc as the best 14 year old in the world.

Most people didnt know who Ronaldo or Messi were at 14 in the world of football. It means nothing . Kun Aguero was probably more hyped at 15 that they were. Same with Cecs. They arent better players.

Gio Reyna? Pulisic? Etc never got played simply for being American. Lmaoo even Clint Dempsey who still holds club goal record for Fulham was never seen as good because he was simply American

            Anonymous

            >Clint Dempsey was never seen as good because he was American.
That's not true, people rated Dempsey. He's regarded as a cult hero/legend at Fulham. He only holds the PL goal record for Fulham btw which means nothing because football didn't start in 1992 when they rebranded the 1st division (He's 4th overall which is still very respectable)

There is more anti American bias when it comes to coaches but that's because Bob Bradley and Jesse Marsh were gigafrauds that were way out of their depth and used ridiculous American terminology in their bizzare press conferences, just all round so embarassingly out of touch with our sports culture to the point it came across like satire.

            NO this is completely different.

American football and baseball were always the sports the best kids athletes played and the majority of the lower tier kids all played soccer as it's viewed as non contact and less dangerous than football or baseball.

That has changed the last 5 years. Now all the Tier 1 talent kids are playing soccer with the rise of CTE in American football and with baseball dying. You have absolutely no idea how wrong you are.

            Dear Mr Reddit,
Soccer has been more popular than football with pre-high school kids since at least the 90's. Football is expensive and never had a big player base prior to high school age. And basketball was always more popular than both in that age range too. You probably just have more mexicants living near you than you did growing up.

They don’t understand, it’ll be too late when the realize what’s happening. We’re going to literally rape them just like the US womens team has been raping them. We have THOUSANDS of academies now and THOUSANDS of scouts. Ever kid is playing soccer. It’s utterly over for Euros and South Americans

You have no idea what you're talking about. I like in fricking Georgia which is SEC football country. Soccer is played WAY more among American youth. Ask anyone.

Reminder that their only WC win was from when they were the WC hosts and even then they had to get refball'd in their favour against Germany at the Final.

Gio Reyna? Pulisic? Etc never got played simply for being American. Lmaoo even Clint Dempsey who still holds club goal record for Fulham was never seen as good because he was simply American

        You misunderstand cause and effect.
The tourists invading increased the number of instances of reddit spacing, which lead to increase in uses of the term as a response.
Or are you one of those who believe decreasing seaborne piracy increased global warming, since there is a graphable correlation?

          >The tourists invading increased the number of instances of reddit spacing, which lead to increase in uses of the term as a response.

There wasn't really an "increase in uses of the term", as before the election literally at most 5 people used the term, before 2015 it was used literally once or twice IN TOTAL. The term was never used.

          >The tourists invading increased the number of instances of reddit spacing

You have literally no statistical evidence of this, and nobody would be able to notice. People HAVE been posting with double spaces since 20032004, a good percentage of posts in every single thread from the start of the site have been written like that.
