Let's count the men's singles titles that have been defended on AEW TV/PPV in the last year.
        >AEW World Title
        >TNT Title
        >Continental Title
        >International Title
        >ROH World Title
        >ROH TV Title
        >ROH Pure Title
        >NJPW Strong Title
        >FTW Championship
        >CM Punk's 'Real World Championship'
        >Probably some more NJPW, AAA or CMLL shit that I don't know or care about

WWE have 6 men's singles titles, 2 for each brand. I don't regularly watch AEW, but I'm not a hater by any means. But way too many titles are taking up time on the shows, it makes each champion feel less special.

          Any sane booker would
          >quarantine the ROH cancer to its own show
          >unify the Continental and International titles
          >unify the TNT and FTW belts (or make FTW a hardcore title)
and just stop fricking showing the Strong and Mexican belts, they look like shit and make the wrestlers look like carnies. Show the njpw or tna belts if people have them I guess, at least theyre somewhat respectful, but jesus christ show some restraint Tony.

Its partially the quantity, but not just that. ignoring your baiting with ufc, the problem is you see about 10 belts on the average episode of dyanmite. What do you see on Raw, 4 belts, maybe 5? If wwe paraded all the nxt and ufc belts on smackdown then we'd shit on them too, but they are kept separate.

            Anonymous

That is the difference between a promotion that has separate rosters and one that uses the same roster but everywhere and acknowledges (almost) everything. WWE/NXT has almost the same amount of titles (as in the physical titles) as AEW if you account for all of them; 20 WWE/NXT vs 22 AEW/ROH.
And I'd like to actually see the average numbers on TV for each promotion of belts shown if anyone wants to do the math.

            >counting UFC

            >Are they or are they not under TKO Holdings?
TKO is just an umbrella for WWE and UFC. UFC matches do not happen on WWE TV, and therefore do not contribute to the overabundance of championships on screen.

            Anonymous

TKO is more than just that; it's also Tapout, TSI Reality Services, the massive wrestling & MMA archive, UFC Performance Institute gyms, and more. They plan to expand further too into other industries. And the reason why you don't see much crossover besides stuff like pic related, is that they know their audiences are completely different and would revolt at there being fighter/wrestler crossovers.

Not knowing the kino of Inokism.

This is honestly the perfect amount of belts. You could make an argument that the World Heavy and Women's World doesn't need to exist, but Paul has played both titles well enough that they feel justified, and just as important as the WWE.

Rhea is a champ that shines brighter with a title. Iyo and her little samurai gang wouldn't work as much if there wasn't a big bad yakuza title being held by the group leader. Seth, on the other hand, doesn't really need a title, but online babies wouldn't stop crying about our Tribal Chief going the distance.

Both divisions need their jobbers for house show matches.

43 championship belts have been defended on AEW TV in the 5 years that it has existed. That's 43 different championships.
At present there are 8 AEW belts that are regularly defended as well as 7 ROH belts, most of which appears weekly on AEW TV and are defended more often in aew than ROH. This is not including the NJPW Strong belt that has been on AEW TV constantly for a year, the AAA, CMLL, NJPW, TJPW, Stardom, GCW titles that have appeared previously.

You seem to underestimate the sheer legion of tards that watch WWE (and I don't mean that derisively they are very successful for it). Being in WWE is how you become a "star" as long as say you're a big deal because the fans will play along. Being "known" doesn't matter. There's plenty of people in WWE who weren't known but became known simply from being presented well for a year or two because that's where the audience is.

WWE literally has 3 "world" titles.

I prefer Japanese Cody because, unlike American Cody, he will not betray us for the gay Fed.

Okada was blonde when Cody was still wearing a fricking plastic mask kek

There are so many better reasons to drop AEW, and this is the one you choose? People would be even more pissed if he went to a time limit draw or lost to Joe for the championship

I'm a big Okada fan and his signing was the thing that kept me going
Seeing Tony just wrench away one of his key characteristics from NJPW and make him now care about non-main titles, just instantly stripping him of the character he has had for a decade. Frick it

So has the IC title, you dumb frick, and Okada didn't give a shit about that, because it wasn't the promotion's world title.

Ah yes. Midcard Okada. This is exactly what I was hoping Tony would get out of him when he signed Okada.

Frick this gay company. I hate it here now. Tony has all this fricking talent on the roster and his ambitions for all of them are like 3 feet shallow. A lot of meaningless shoe leather going on in this All Debut Wrestling lately.

Yeah I've been watching and supporting AEW from day one. I'm a fan regardless but people are allowed to call out shit when they see it.

You're the kind of fricktard that could get pegged by Tony Khan after a coke binge, knowingly hate it and be like "oh-I-I-think I like this Tony. This is great!". Yeah I'm the ape. Don't walk too fast on the way out you might scrape your knuckles.

While you do watch every episode and have from the beginning, b***hbreasts, you're not a fan you're a deranged quadruped that is incapable of making a post that doesn't include Tony Khan in it.

YOU'RE talking about me you fricking autist lmao. AEW is in as good of a position now as it was like year one or two right? Tony books masterpiece storylines, new fans are flocking to the product in droves, everything is consistently improving, sold out arenas, matches make sense, etc. etc. right? I swear anon is Will Ospreay.

    A credible promotion has a:

    World Champion
    Intercontinental title
    ...
    Tag Team Champion
    Women's Champion (optional)

Anything more? Your titles are meaningless.

Yeah, good for him but not so good for the guys backstage who get paid less to do more and for anyone who got over and hasn't gotten a chance because Tony keeps hiring literally everyone and burying his roster to put over new toys.

I don't watch wrestling to form parasocial relationships with strangers and to be happy for them for getting paid. I watch to be entertained. I'm not entertained by guys playing with their friends for no reason on TV
