has it really been that dire for the last 20 years? did people forget what pro wrestling was? It was an awesome angle, but people are acting like we just saw something that's never been done before.

Michael Cole was sperging out over a canadian destroyer acting like he had never seen one before. WWE is literally light years behind AEW.

WWE is doing something special that AEW could never do in a million years: it's telling a good story and making spots count.

Yeah prowrestling is simple. Heel vs babyface. Cant get better than that and your moronic cuckold flippy shitter Bruvspreay wishes people cared as much about him.

No I enjoyed the angle. The Rock was awesome.
It's just really weird to see people blowing loads over such a simple pro wrestling angle.

They're blowing loads over a simple pro wrestling angle because it's simple and well executed. It's not overly complicated, not full of esoteric references to things that happened a decade ago in other promotions, it's not nonsensical. Its just simple. fricking. pro. wrestling. That's why people are loving it.

You must be an actual brainlet. A shitty movie can still have good parts in it, but it can still be a shitty movie. Just like how the PG era can have good moments in it, but STILL be shit. Does one good moment erase the years of monotony of Super Cena?
Does one good deed forgive the sins of a damned man?

Yes it has been. Remember when Randy Orton sold his back in the elimination chamber and everybody thought he was legitimately injured because nobody in wrestling sells anymore?

I've been thinking this too. I absolutely loved last night's show top to bottom, Rock/Cody was great, Ricochet's match was awesome, and Drew/Punk/Rollins promo was top tier. But I'm just left kinda jaded thinking "how long after Wrestlemania will it take to go back to the same old boring shit" and "why can't it always be like this". There really have been some amazing moments over the last year and a half or so but I'm constantly reminded that this used to be the average quality of TV wrestling shows back in the attitude era.

Reactions like the ones you're seeing are the reason wwe doesn't use blood, backstage brawling & flippy shit very often. similarly, aew using them all so much is why no one talks about it when they do anymore. penta and orange had a match where they both did like 5 canadian destroyers in a row to eachother back to back. Someone here made a gif of it because they both come off as complete jokes.

But look how powerful the out-of-the-ordinary shit is when it's saved for angles and characters people are already invested in. Seriously, look at the mileage wwe is getting out of one destroyer and having cole sell it like it was a big deal.

Reactions like this are why veterans tell flippy-shitters to learn how to work the fundamentals as a character first.

Semi-constant injuries, shortened careers that never meant anything, jaded fans --and AEW in general-- are what happens when no one listens because they think they know better than them.

Hell, there was a string of like 6 months where mox bled in every fricking match like it didn't make him come off as a complete pussy. His time off is probably the only reason it's not happening weekly anymore.

Yeah. I said before this is why aew is shit. They could have given us attitude era style shows but fans have been brainwashed by pg era wwe for so long that they didnt want that.

Wrestling is supposed to be about lunatic carnies beating the shit out of each other. This is why it was at its best when it transgressed racial, sexual and other social norms. These are supposed people on the outskirts of society.
