Diego will forever be God but how can he be your favorite player if you have not seen him play?
I grew up watching his warm up video "live is life" and adoring him since but it's not the same.

        Born in 88, bro.
I did see him play, granted, not much of it live and definitely not in his prime, but context matters. Every single adult that I ever knew idolized him and told me exactly who he was. And with time, the idea only reinforced itself after watching tribute after tribute after tribute.

Fair enough. I'm from 90 myself but I don't have any memories of him playing.
Nonetheless I became a fan too due to an uncle telling me tales of him, then as I grew older and watched more and more of what he had done admiration went through the roof.

It's hard to say who is the best player of all time because different eras but his performance against Belgium in 86 is probably the best football anyone has ever played.

In my case, proximity plays a huge role. Argies hate bolitas (of a certain complexion) so when I say that my family is half argentinian it triggers their 'tism, but I spent most of my childhood traveling to Buenos Aires on summer vacation. I don't consider myself half argie or anything of the sort but the fact remains that both our cultures are somewhat intermixed. To a point at least.

Oh, I dunno, he might just be the best bolivian player of all time? Absolutely love Platini, fantastic player, gifted passer and fricking rocket on his right foot, our version of Recoba. Went on to become a competent manager, sending lazy/drunkard players packing, fighting dirigentes and insulting refs to their face. Based Plato.

There's a few set pieces in this vid, kinda hard to obtain footage on this era of bolita footie but still something to see.

Were you born here in '90, you would at least have slight memories of him in his Boca era: posters of him with the dyed yellow strip on his head, hearing of Diego-Caniggia in the news or footy kids in your neighborhood larping as them, and similar. We had our mini CR7-Messi rivalry in the 90s, which was "El Diego vs El Enzo".

Why do you put Suarez and Benz in current era but Messi in all time? They're contemporaneous and the three of them are playing in sunday leagues. I don't get it.

I was on a Royal Caribbean cruise with Totti maybe ten years ago. I thought it was crazy he'd be on some normie cheap cruise. I tried to take a picture with him in background in the casino, but he noticed and hid his Face, I'm a bit embarrassed by that now. It was during the world cup too.

    1. Fabregas unironically
Loved watching him his entire career

    2. Hazard
Impossible not to enjoy, especially when you’ve heard about how he would just turn up to training and team meetings and just frick around all day. Truly does not care about tactics or any of that stuff, just wants to have fun and hopefully win something along the way.

    3. Joe Cole
Just a joy to watch. Shame he got Mourinho’d, could have ended up there with Lampard and all those lads. Still an amazing player on his day.
