>"Rape Me" was written by Cobain on an acoustic guitar in Los Angeles in May 1991, around the time the band's second album, Nevermind, was being mixed. It was first performed live on June 18, 1991, at The Mandingo Room in Detroit, MI. The earliest live versions of the song featured a guitar solo instead of a bridge.

>Vince McMahon first purchased considerable stocks in the record label DGC Records (an initialism for the David Geffen Company) in early 1991. Nirvana was signed to the DGC label at the time of writing, recording, and releasing the song.

What the frick? Are we looking at another Owen Hart situation? Did Vince plan the 92 shit from the start?

Cobain really doesn’t have a parallel with a wrestler. Maybe late career Danielson. He desperately wanted to be over with the indie shitters and resented his own success. His wife bought a Lexus and he threw a hissy fit and made her return it. He hired Steve Albini to produce the follow up album because he wanted it to be in his own words “unlistenable”. Maybe RVD, when finally got the title and said he was going to rename it the ECW championship and defend it at the old arena. Something like that.

If Chris Cornell’s solo career took off the way they tried to get it to he would have been the Michaels, right down to splitting up his team and being a shoot homosexual. He pretty much flopped and had to join a stable with RATM. That’s actually kind of like the Shawn NWO run. There’s parallels with the man but he was not the Michaels.

Really Pearl Jam is unironically the Michaels and everyone else is the Jannetty.

So does Shawn Michaels and it was definitely a gay magazine. Pearl Jam sucks but they’re unquestionably the Michaels of their scene.

Unfortunately a certain wrestler just breaking into the biz at the time would hear this record and in his own words became obsessed, a real danger... to himself.
