Blackman is legit based. It's pretty funny because wannabe tough guy JBL was shit scared of him.

Legit tough guy, legit nice guy but not very charismatic, a good B player and even has some good matches and spots, like that one match vs Shane in some summerslam.

He made them put some rules into the brawl for all because word got out he was training to annihilate everyone's knees to get the 100k

Blackman might be autistic but I doubt even he was dumb and pyscopathic enough to want to cripple his coworkers for a shoot.

I think he just really wanted an easy $100,000 they tell a version of it on the dark side of the ring episode about the tournament

He didn't plan on crippling them for life. But it's a shoot fight. You're going to do damage in order to win, and Blackman was probably the only guy on the roster who knew how to throw good kicks. I'm including Severn and Shamrock when I say that.

    >Vader was terrified of him
    >Kicked JBL in the jaw with a roundhouse kick at an airport and knocked him out after JBL tried pushing him onto the luggage carousel
    >Was laying on the ground in the locker room and took Big Show to the ground without ever getting up after Big Show walked by and talked shit
    >Beat the shit out of JBL again after JBL smacked his ass in another airport
    >Made JBL apologize to him in front of everybody at catering

Shoot tough, unlike the Samoans. Also this is what he looked like before he almost died of malaria.

Why did he have so many tense interactions with people? I know about Big Show starting a fight with Great Khali since he felt like Khali was being disrespectful, but he seems like an easygoing guy otherwise.

It was only JBL and Big Show by the sounds of it. A lot of wrestlers have big egos and work themselves into a shoot over their tough guy status.

why they jobbing legit MMA skilled guys and push weak ass wannabe tough guys in the main events bros? Only few like Lesnar managed to outgrew "Tough guy gimmick" persona.

Because wrestling is ultimately about characters and stories. Blackman wasn't good enough to be a captivating character and tell good stories. Simple as. Everyone knows its a work and fake, the legit guys didn't care because it paid well and they were professional to put people over even if they could beat them with ease.

Most shooters had a hard time transitioning to pro wrestling. You spend a possible lifetime building your skills, and then have to learn how to discard that in order to work it. That's part of what impressed so many guys in the business about Kurt Angle when he broke in.

I actually live in the town next to him (he lives in Lebanon PA and I live in Hershey) and I've ran into 3 times at grocery stores and gas stations. He has a judo gym in town where he still trains people. As of 2 years ago, he still looks like he could beat any active wrestler in a shoot fight

Most of the guys this board likes to make fun of as "fake tough guys" were shoot tough guys, but the standards have changed, and any of them would get annihilated by trained martial artists now. Hell, the tides were turning around Steve's time due to the rise of MMA. But Steve was one of the toughest of them all, by all accounts.
