The importance of sliding doors in football

>Be Ancelotti and Mourinho in the year 2021
>Rougly even matched in number of trophies. Ancelloti slighty better in CL titles, Mourinho slighy better in Leagues titles
>Both had previous years of mediocre/outright bad runs (Napoli/Everton for Carlo, United/Spurs for Josè)
>Both are thus considered antiquated for modern football and finished
>Real is looking for a expert manager willing to work with a younger team and try to win again stuff in 3-4 years
>Propose first to Mourinho, that refuses because Roma promised him an ambitious project to win immediately
>Then they ask Ancelotti, and he accepts
>Now three years later Ancelotti won two more CLs and it's considered the best manager in history, while Mourinho downgraded to fricking Kebab land

I mostly sure that if Josè accepted the Madrid offer nowadays their situations would be switched.

With the current state of Farça Mourinho's mentality is overkill. Ancelotti's power of friendship memery is more stable and he also played a huge role in developing Vini

Mourinho wouldnt win shit with his jurassic Mouball
His only achievement was a Conference League and while that was important to Roma it's a competition below their level
Their level is Europa League and, mystic aside around Sevilla, they lost to a team fighting relegation
At Série A I don't think he ever made past 6th place despite having a squad with crazy depth (easily top 4 squad)
I don't think he ever made to Copa Itália final either

I'm mostly sure Mourinho would be on a big club now if he won the EL last year. Proably just like in 2010 he had a deal with some club but decided to reject it after losing the final to try on it again with Roma the following year. Sadly it didnt went well.
It seems it's the last and final sliding door on his career: a negative one

Real Madrid won the CL this season despite being outplayed by Man City and Dortmund. Like Mourinho said in his commentary of the final, you need to be humble enough to play terrorist football if you want to win matches.

Dortmund was already crumbling before RM scored in the second half. They were not better and ended up being garbage once they got some pressure on their necks. City was only better at Ethihad and was lucky to have a tie in Bernabeu

          >Dortmund was already crumbling before RM scored in the second half
          Utter bullshit
Real started to play even more defensive
Did you even watch the game?

            >Real started to play even more defensive
If Bellingham wasn't a walking corpse he would have scored before Carvajal, whenever Dortmund arrive it was toothless and Vinicius was starting to wreck Dirtmund defenders. After the 55th minute I knew it was already a wrap

    first to Mourinho
    This never happened
Mourinho is absolutely hated by everyone at Real Madrid, and rightly so.
Also you have to be moronic to think he would snub Madrid to manage Roma. The only reason he went to Roma in the first place is because there were zero (0) big clubs offering him a job.

A c**t overall, destroyed the image of the team, played like shit, treated club legends like shit, filtered stuff to the press, was a diva, and most importantly, was a shit manager for the club who only managed to win 1 real trophy in 3 years.

As much as I respect Ancelotti he is the definition of a chequebook manager. Mourinho is a little bit too, but at least he’s able to do SOMETHING without a massive budget. CL with Porto is an incredible achievement, but also Inter was impressive. He also did fine, albeit a little underwhelming, with a disjointed piece of shit Roma team. Same with Man United. His biggest failure was probably not getting more out of spuds, but every manager that goes there says the same thing so it’s hard to blame him.

Mourinho has also had to work exceptionally hard to be where he is, Ancelotti just seem to land these gigs where the manager is more or less irrelevant (prime Milan, now Madrid). Every time the going gets though and you need your manager to do some proper managing (tactics, cut/add to the squad, etc) he fails miserably.

you didn't watch Real Madrid the season before Ancelotti took over. every young player who stagnated under Zidane and got garbage time minutes prospered under him, most notably Vinicius.

I’m not saying he does nothing, he very obviously does, but he can’t into tactics and other aspects of management the same way Mourinho can.

Ancelotti is a great tactician, you are just not able to see it because for you tactics is only what Guardiola does.

Ancelotti has unironically impressed me in this run. This team this year was considered worse than Barça and with no chance at the CL because lack of reinforcements in key positions, and he managed another double making Vini the best player on the planet. Befor this second RM run I could understand Ancelotti being called overrated or fraudulent, now I can only praise his work and achievements

"worse than Barça" sounds ludicrous now but anon is right in that things looked a bit grim in August with Courtois out for the season, Joselu replacing Benzema and Bellingham's performance being a mystery at the time
the general consensus was this was supposed to be a transitional year until Mbappe finally signed

Mourinho is a negative force in footy that ends up destroying team cohesion, wherever he goes history repeats itself.
