Yea Tony is at making new young stars. He lucked upon Darby and MJF. Other than them, who else is a star and including them, who did he make?

I agree with Kidani about that (the amount of "homegrown AEW stars" can be counted with one hand). I was calling him pathetic for him saying NJPW is on equal footing with AEW in the partnership. NJPW is getting KWABed hard and he refuses to see it

nobody on both counts as far as I'm aware, that's still there

will puroresu ever recover or is it permakwabed? It honestly seems like they never even came back from the early 00s decline

you must have been asleep for nearly a decade when NJPW was hot

japanese promotions will NEVER be able to compete with american ones again. TV money ensures that. NJPW is the best at creating great wrestlers, anyone who isn't clueless can see that, but all of those guys will leave once they're seasoned because they'll make 10x as much money in WWE or AEW. simple as.

I have wondered if it might be a good idea for AEW to start a dojo. If you start training college athletes to be the next Omega, Ospreay or even Hangman.. I wonder how far'd you get. The success rate might be higher than you think. "Workrate" style is more intuitive than whatever they teach at the PC.

That's what Nightmare Factory was supposed be. But CAWdy started signing trannies and unathletic slobs for Reddit brownie points

They let anybody in. I'm thinking something more in line with the NJPW Dojo where they find a few key talent and go from there.

It wouldn’t be much different from the US NJPW strong bullshit

Maybe they could do better. Those are just Indie guys who apply. Heavy scouting would be key.

AEW doesn’t seem to have any kind of real structure or discipline and listening to vets is bad.

The entire handling of Brawl Out speaks for itself. An entire year of no resolution other than “split the shows and hope nothing happens at a PPV” only for something to happen at a PPV

The natural discipline ingrained in a Japanese dojo system is key and by all accounts the AEW backstage is the antithesis to discipline, hardly sounds like a place to cultivate young talent

The "weak yen" excuse is such bullshit. Wrestling has survived through depressions, horrible economies, wars.

It's not just about "weak yen", it's relative to the rest of the world and most specifically American currency. The pay discrepancy has risen to undeniable levels with the rise of AEW and billionaire who throws massive contracts around like candy as well.
