No wonder WWE is such an unmitigated success in every metric with him at the helm

He's right about that clusterfrick from the year before they even brought Foley back when his retirement match was a month earlier.

I love how this completely shits all over the narrative surrounding him and people preconceptions of what he was like back then. That's selfless as hell putting the integrity of the show above yourself given those circumstances and what exactly he was passing up. Classy move. There aren't a ton of instances I can think of people doing something like that. Only other one that comes to mind is Edge refusing to accept the offer of beating the Undertaker at WM24

Yeah that’s IF you take his word on it now. Real easy to make shit up to revise history and perception just like with you. Immedaire

      >main evented over hogan/rock in X8
      >main evented over taker/hbk in wm25
He sure got ahead of himself after that then

In both of those instances his match was the title match. Which was always customary to go on last. And on paper it should have. You knew those others matches would be good but I don't think anyone genuinely expected either Rock and Hogan or Michaels and Undertaker to be every bit as good as they were. Had either of those been booked to go on last then there would've been much heavier expectations placed on both and who knows how differently they may have gone. It's not like Triple H benefited from his match placement on either of those shows. The crowds were fully spent by the time we went on

          >Nobody expected Rock-Hogan and Michaels-Taker to be as good as they were

And everyone expected HHH-Jericho to be better than Rock-Hogan and HHH-Randy to be better than Taker-HBK?

Where did I say that? I said those two matches were the ones for the belt which was always customary to go on last. Step up that reading comprehension son

I disagree with the other anon because I think people were obviously more hyped for Hogan-Rock than Y2J-HHH, but at WM25 Taker-HBK was a nothing feud and HHH-Orton was the hottest thing on TV. It's one of the best built main events ever, which is why it being a total shitfest is even more jarring.

        The title match went last.
If you think those are examples of him "politicing" in some way behind the scenes you may have HHH derangement syndrome.

Nothing wrong with either of these, but Paul booking himself to bury Randy at 25 is a classic Haitch move

moron, he was bluffing on that line. The writers decided to remove him it had nothing to do with Paul. There's no way Gaytch would turn that down

i simply don't believe that he would have turned that down. nobody wrestler would have.

To be fair it doesn't not track considering Triple H spent from Survivor Series until No Way Out, which as the ppv right before Mania, feuding with Austin. His match with Undertaker was pretty out of left field compared to the entire story of him being the one who had Austin run over

i read somewhere that WM15 was originally pitched as a triple threat with Mick included but HBK convinced everyone the main event should stay a one on one

This seems plausible just because of how nothing of a match the Mankind and Big Show thing ended up feeling like. It sucks because that was a huge year for Foley and he was dealt dogshit for Mania but I can't imagine the first Austin and Rock main event having a third added to it

This is what happened, and what had been built for the past 4 months but Shawn tried to convince Vince that the main event of wrestlmania should always be 1v1, but he wanted Austin vs Foley. Vince agreed that it should be 1v1, but was dead set on it being Rock vs Austin, so Foley got thrown into a rushed together heatless Big Show match where he would be a guest ref if he won.

Absolutely stupid on H's part. Everyone wanted to see the triple threat we never got at No Way out. Probably would have avoided an Austin Heel turn roo
