I don't want to be mean, but don't you think this is mostly due to the Conference League being a new competition precisely for clubs from smaller leagues? Also, "always wins"?

        >I don't want to be mean, but don't you think this is mostly due to the Conference League being a new competition precisely for clubs from smaller leagues?
valid argument. im not saying we are nowhere near the same league as other european teams. however its still a big achievement for us and we were the first to break the mold of italian/english/german/spanish football supremacy
        >Also, "always wins"?
this wasnt specifically sports related but historically, going back in time weve brought a lot of W's (cultural, scientific or otherwise) that i would say are disproportionate for our size and population. also we just won the euroleague in basketball as well, remember?

Hm, I see. Yeah. But then again, you (unfortunately, I wish it was different myself) don't own Constantinople, and your government and mine have spent a significant chunk of the last years arguing about finances. That being said, I see what you mean, definitely. Although the cultural/scientific stuff was a long, long time ago - I already feel like we're total hasbeens tbqh, but at least you've got some patriotism

So, are you an Olympiakos fan? If not, what's your favorite club? I must say, the Greek League had a quite exciting title race this season, there seems to be potential for more. It's unfortunately not to be expected that leagues have such balance up front, but all the better in your case

its kind of hard not to be proud when your list of achievements inlcudes anything from the invention of scientifical process to the new testament of the one true living god being written in your native language. i dont expect you to get it, courtesy of being french but you can at least try to emulate it. im sure you have been useful for a thing or two, too

You are right, friend. Thank you.

not really, im a fan of any greek team, no matter who they are. tbh this isnt even my main board, you could say im a bit of a tourist here. im not really keeping up with sports much nowadays although in my time i competed semi-professionally as a GK, so i know more than a thing or two about how to kick a ball and probably even more about how to avoid having it kicked into your goalposts

Ancient Greeks were simply lucky they were geographically located to the places where actual civilisation began, they were extra lucky that said places were past their peaks and already declining, making them easier to rip off. basically they were in the right place at the right time, nowadays they're getting bullied by Turkey lmao

That's Ceuta and Melilla, Spain has been owning owning Melilla since the 15th century and Ceuta since 1668 (it was originally Portuguese in the 15th century, but Spain and Portugal were briefly one and then it stayed with Spain). It was simply part of stronger powers expanding into the non-Christian world. Morocco lays claim to both. Interestingly, both Melilla and Ceuta are not part of the Schengen Area or the European Customs area

    -3 won by portugese teams (2003, 2004, 2011)
