Who could’ve predicted that 2.5 yrs after this tweet Rock and Austin would be at Wrestlemania.

But guess what E-drone. The clock starts AFTER Wrestlemania. I said 3-5 years. We’re not there yet.

      The end is nigh homosexual.

No, you said AEW wouldn’t make the same mistakes WCW made. To date, AEW has made the same EXACT mistakes, and even more than that. It’s over. Yield.

The guy's character is pretty much "based moron" and that is something wrestling needs. Leave him outta all this console war homosexualry. He aint no big star, he aint no fricking flop. He is a guy that fits in perfectly with NXT and I appreciate him for that since he makes shows fun.

memes aside, do people actually think AEW will pass WWE? WCW was successful and more popular than WWF at one point because WWF was legitimately so shit during that time but WCW was also very, very good.
It wasn't just "LE... GOOD WRESTLING", because the wrestlers back then didn't care to wrestle for some israelite to tell them it was good. That's all wrestling is today, and it's mainly AEW that want the 5 stars the most.
AEW is actually in no position to ever pass WWE, like memes aside lol.

Between 2019 and 2022 every IWC member more or less thought it would happen. Especially in 2021 when NXT changed nights and Danielson and Punk joined AEW. A lot of smark podcasts gleefully declared they weren't reviewing raw or smackdown anymore and that AEW was the only real wrestling shows now.
After Cody came to WWE and Punk beat up the elite is when they all snapped back to reality but opinions like the one in the OP tweet were common and repeated by guys like Meltzer and Alvarez

This is actually proves their point though. Not only has WWE yet to be able to produce the next Rock and Austin but they've done such a poor job at it that 25 years later they still need to rely on bringing in the original Rock and Austin

        Anonymous

They are bonuses. Rock and Austin haven't been full time anything since 2002. And yet they are sellling out every show regardless and house shows.

It does not prove their point at all.

Imagine if during the attitude era Vince brought back Hogan, or more accurately of a time difference, Bruno. And he completely mogged the Rock. That's what's happening today. They're saying that WWE doesn't have Rock and Austin level stars on their roster and it's true. They've spent 10 years pouring every last egg they could salvage into the Roman basket and he's been lil bro'ed beyond recognition just by standing next to Dwayne

            Anonymous

Vince had chances at guys like Hogan, Flair and Savage during the Attitude era though. There was even talk that Flair was going to show up at either Unforgiven 98 or Over the Edge.

            Anonymous

I wasn't advocating for him to do so. That was the exact reputation they were trying to escape at the time that later got pinned on WCW. It would've been detrimental to the upward mobility of guys like Austin, Rock, and Triple H if they had filled in those spots with those same guys that had already been there 10 years before

            Anonymous

Now would bruno mog the rock though? That just wouldn't happen because rock is rock. Which is why he mogs cody.

            Anonymous

            >Now would bruno mog the rock though?
No! And that's entirely the point. Because they made an actual proper star out of the Rock. Meanwhile Rock still does absolutely mog Roman, and Cody as well to your point, which is the entire issue at hand. I'm not saying they can just make another Rock overnight. But when you try with someone as they have with Roman you can tell if it's there or not. Just like with Cody too. And since it's not why the hell are we wasting a decade of our time here. It's actually fricked up that the biggest pop of the last 5 years or so came from Sami Zayn who never once has been positioned to be that sort of role

            Anonymous

            >Meanwhile Rock still does absolutely mog Roman, and Cody
Because those 2 are dimeless shitters. Drew seems to be doing fine against CM Punk and Drew got buried on the mic by LA Knight so I'm sure he could handle The Rock far better than Cody is.

            Anonymous

Funny enough I think Drew is great and that they should have been pushing him for ages. When Roman fricked off and he had the room to step up into that top spot he did a great job and that was just playing the vanilla babyface. Let him be a bit rougher around the edges as we've gotten this past year and who knows how much bigger he could've become in the last 5 years. Sadly that doesn't appear to be in their plans

            >It's actually fricked up that the biggest pop of the last 5 years or so came from Sami Zayn
Drew's pop from eliminating Brock and LA Knight's pop from winning the Slim Jim Battle Royale were bigger than anything involving that geek.

That chairshot at the Rumble? Go listen again. Not putting down the pop for Drew. Because you're entirely right about it being a massive one. I'd say Edge had some comparable ones too. But the one when Sami took out Roman with that chair at the Rumble felt like the biggest to me

If they're willing and able, why not? They're literally 2/3, Hogan being the other, of the biggest trio of pro wrestling stars in history. Saying that they can't replicate that isn't a knock.

          Anonymous

          >If they're willing and able, why not?
Zero fault with this. I agree with you. They'd be dumb not to utilize them if they can. The problem is that utilizing them shows exactly how deep in the mud the rest of their roster and 'stars' of today are. Not a single person of the last 20 years is holding a candle to the Rock or Austin. The closest they've had were Punk and Cena and they're as good as done as Rock and Austin at this point
          >They're literally 2/3, Hogan being the other, of the biggest trio of pro wrestling stars in history. Saying that they can't replicate that isn't a knock.
And they all had their peak within a 10 year span of each other. It's been 25 years since the attitude era. What the frick has WWE been doing? How is it not a bad thing that in over 25 years the biggest names in wrestling they have to point to are still the same ones from back then?
