There is almost zero overlap in audience. NHL/NBA playoffs having high viewership has nothing to do with AEW having low viewership. When the playoffs are over and AEW's viewership stays at 700k and continues to dip, you can find a new cope or go back to blaming cord cutting like you've been doing.

        Anonymous

Fun fact: Dynamite went head to head with the NBA Finals on June 7, 2023 and LOST VIEWERS the following week without the NBA Finals running opposite of them. The "muh sportz iz competition" narrative is done. There is no overlap.

        >There is almost zero overlap in audience
        Proof?
        >cord cutting is a cope
Yeah sure buddy. Millions dropping cable yoy definitely hasn't effected viewership for anything.

          Anonymous

          >Proof?
Their ratings trend the same way whether sports are on or not. I had this same argument last year on here during the playoffs and they never had some magical post playoff bump. Have you looked at an AEW crowd or looked at an AEW fan's Twitter account? They do not give a frick about basketball or hockey.
          >Millions dropping cable yoy definitely hasn't effected viewership for anything
Nielsen doesn't just take numbers from cable. I see a lot of cope about "I watch on YouTube TV and so do my friends. Cable is dead." when Nielsen has deals with YouTube TV, Hulu and even Comcast's streaming app and counts that viewership towards its numbers. People still use linear TV, its viewership is just splintered because there's a million channels and most content can be watched on demand. Live sports and other big live events like award shows do big numbers. Monday Night Football averaged 17 million viewers. These are all people with some kind of television service provider, they just aren't watching AEW. If you're gonna say something about how millions watch it illegally, that amounts to nothing.

When did I ever say that people weren't dropping cable, you illiterate moron? I'm saying that the services that replaced it (YouTube TV, Hulu Live, Sling, Xfinity Stream etc) are now counted towards viewership numbers. Unless there's an anomaly and a huge chunk of the AEW audience uses Fite or whatever it's called now, those are the numbers.

            Anonymous

Because they want to pay 15 dollars a month for HBO Max instead of 70 dollars a month for one of those.

Nielsen is in less homes than TNA has viewers. How can it be an accurate measure of ratings?

            Anonymous

They extrapolate their numbers to the number of people with cable/linear television. There's probably a margin of error somewhere, but 100k viewers is more than enough of a sample size to gauge the average viewing habits of the country.

            Anonymous

A sample size of 50k is enough to gauge the viewing habits of a country with 300 million+ people?

            Anonymous

Yes, it's a statistically significant number, and I believe that number is just counting Nielsen boxes, and not the automatic opt-in of modern streaming services. Nielsen is very transparent about the methodology they use when calculating their ratings, and people in advertising are acutely aware of how Nielsen comes up with their numbers and what those numbers mean.

You're making too much sense, Aew gays get excited because AEW "beats" the 1058th reality tv show on a TLC or something and even then it barley is able to do it. This shits is legitimately sad. There is nothing good on tv at all anymore. If AEW isn't automatically beating everything with ease then what does that tell you?
