MLB gives no shits about cheating, every star player got caught juicing in the early 2000s and MLB did nothing to punish any of them. Barry Bonds 70 HR in a season my ass. Baseball is such a fake and gay sport.

The difference is Pete Rose was 38 years old and universally hated when he was banned from Baseball. I'm sure they would have reacted differently if likable stars of the 80s like Daryl Strawberry and Doc Gooden got into some legal trouble in the 80s that involved organized crime trouble that led to their underperformance.

      True, he hit 73

yeah it's always the same tell tale patterns. guys suddenly making the most egregious wtf braindead little league mistakes on the basepaths or controller unplugged throwing errors or hacking at 2 feet of the plate sliders while walking back to the dugout before it hits the mitt. i'm not talking about the low Latin/Black guys that do that honestly i'm talking the players that can make or break a team like Ohtani. it pains some of these guys to do it to so the level of theater it has become and maintaining that stage face must be tremendous.

sports betting is mostly illegal and not a thing in japan
most japs don't even really understand how it works and many people think it's been too strict in japan compared to other countries
that's one of the reasons why it's difficult for japs to assume ohtani, a guy who was seen absolutely clean and can't speak english fluently, was into it

horse races, boat races, and pachinko are exceptions
japan is pretty strict to gambling in general
when someone gets arrested for it, it's normally because of irl underground casinos run by criminal organizations

      >too strict in japan compared to other countries
There's a chance thats why he ended up getting so deep into it (I dont believe he fixed games but just bet on other sports). Kinda reminds me when somebody who was born and lived in poor as shit conditions makes it to the pros and is now making millions, then they go a bit over the deep end and buy a bunch of cars or even something silly like get really fat and out of shape cause they're just not used to having access to food whenever they want.

ohtani's background is just pretty boring, though. born into a middle class family, both of his parents were decent amateur athletes, and he's been living like a student who's naively obsessed with baseball
gambling addiction might be his dark secret but it would be somewhat more believable if he's actually a psycho killer
also I don't know why ippei took the blame if it was a cover. he's gonna be seen as some sort of fraud by many people for the rest of his life

no, not really. i never said something like he has a pure soul or he's even a good person. what i was saying is, it's just a fact that he had been living like a monk for most of the time at least. you can't just fake your life style when tabloids are chasing you.

that only applies if you like partying. You can do all kinds of shit indoors. It's like people assuming messi was disciplined when he was younger because he didn't go out much, he was just shy, he ate like shit and spend his time playing video games but that's something paparazzi aren't going to see. People can gamble indoors, calling bookies or online, paps aren't going to notice it.

he didn't need to do a lot, he came into a lot of money, got into gambling somehow because he was bored and gambled a lot of money ( not that much for him, but for us) a couple of times. There are probably other players that do it but they aren't as moronic as him and didnt wire the money from their bank accounts, he may have not even known that it was illigal at the time.
