most of the stuff that makes adidas sell is their originals. something like yeezys only makes than less than 9% of revenue and the others less

Yeezy's are literally being sold wholesale on the street and at flea markets. Nobody wants them.
Everything futuristic fell out of fashion, became Eloncore. Kanye doubled down on the Elon crowd and now Yeezys are only worn by /misc/turds who think it gives them the n pass.
They're literally just trying to cut their losses on them and write off what they can.

Well Kanye's downfall coincided with the collapse of the whole futurewear thing. Between Covid, Elon Musk going off the deep end and the reemergence of Baggy and Punk it was doomed from the start.

            Revenue and profit are different.
Yeezy shoe drops made 35% of the Adidas profit at one point just before they publicly dropped Kanye on the back of the naming the israelites thing. Which is why since then they've steadily increased the prices of their staples and tried to make them "fashion icons" like Stan Smiths and Superstars and SST tracksuits. Giving these icons over to major fashion brands to increase the luxury status of those staples has been integral to that like the gucci, Palace and balenciaga collabs. I worked on this with them as well as other things.
Also Adidas Originals is one of their brand names, it's the fashion part of the brand to separate it from being sports.

            Anonymous

Revenue is what matters in the end. a 20 billion company is what makes them the second biggest brand, the revenue is what makes them carry off important partnerships that non-nike brands will never be able to get in their lifetiime. those limited collabs like human made, y3 and the such will never be relevant enough to put in the numbers every year to put adidas of the forefront of sneakers brands

I've been wearing sambas and spezials since 08 and it's crazy seeing the prices go from little over 50euros to 110 120.
It sucks because there are no other options since every other shoe is garbage or made for manlets that need 8cm thick foam soles.

Why would Nike pay that much money for the worst Germany in decades? if it's just a powerplay to mog Adidas it doesn't seem worth it

    >Adidas offered 10% less than for the last contract (50M) "because the value of the german team has decreased"
    >440 million less than Nike over 8 years
    >Adidas boss flew to the DFB on wednesday to convince him to go with Adidas
    >45M was his final offer
    >Nike offered 100M
People are blaming DFB but don't you think that Adidas were way too arrogant here?

They don't seem to realize what a humiliation this is and how much this ruins their brand value.

      Does it really though?
The German team and DFB have a super bad image and the worst that can happen to your brand is when people associate it with negative emotions.
VW actually decreased their sponsorship deal by over 50% aswell.

What if adidas snaps Brazil and France now, they'd be even off better than before.

No matter how bad the german team may play nothing is more damaging to your reputation than losing your national team to your direct competitor after over 70 years of dominance. There's a reason why Nike offered 100M, a completely unreasonable price. It makes Adidas look completely weak and unable to compete and that's exactly what is happening right now. This is basically the nail in the coffin.
