WWE has worse music than AEW which is impressive because when I first gave AEW a try it was some of the most soulless music I ever heard from a wrestling promotion. Both companies are just having a race to the bottom at this point

Wrestlers entrances have always been soulless
Its always been part of wrestlings appeal when that cheezy guitar riff comes in before the wrestler appears

Yeah, it used to be good old hard rock, now it's shitty rap...
It doesn't say "Yeah, I'm a tough guy, I come to biker music and I'm gonna beat you down!" anymore, it says "I'm, er, sort of a thug, kind of, I guess, maybe.. I come to black music anyway so I'm cool, no?"
Who still has a good entrance music nowadays?

Mox, OC and Darby all have some of the best entrance music ever, dunno what you're crying about.

Mox and OC have licensed music that doesn't suit their presenration. It's a financial loss and for no ROI and it makes them look like weirder LARPers (one for Onjta and one for the movie he is parodying).
Christian, FTR, Ospreay, Swerve, Joe, Private Party, Eddie Kingston, Darby, Britt, Toni Storm, Malakai Black, Hobbs, BCG. That is an exhaustive list of every featured talent with ok or above entrance music in aew.

I dunno if that's true. WWE has some trash music but AEW literally brands itself with increasingly worse and worse music. The show literally starts off with the worst music that I have ever heard, which is impressive since the previous intro track was the worst thing I had ever heard and didn't imagine it was possible to go lower.
I don't watch WWE so I don't know for a fact, but I would bet that the featured talent on WWE on average have character relevant music that suits their presentation. I know for a fact that the featured aew talent have random music and almost all of it is terrible.

the problem with wwe entrance themes are that they mostly follow the same beat:
      >wrestler says their copyrighted catchphrase
      >the most generic and soulless music (that suits their presentation) plays afterwards
outside of the long established themes (rey, randy, and punk), the only newer themes that are tolerable are the ones that are made by actual bands (cody and rhea as far as I'm aware). the wwe should just end their partnership with def rebel and hire small-time artists/bands to make entrance themes that not only fit a wrestler's presentation but also accentuate their personality while also being a good standalone listen.

a lot of jim johnston themes had catchphrases or some intro line, i dont get why that is a bad thing now

Music with more emphasis on catchy melodies are seen as LE BAD and less mature cause of homosexuals like Christopher Nolan and temp music in hollywood.

It's from the AEW/New Japan crew, their wrestlers bring their dimeless themes from promotion to promotion and they're usually crap. Ospreay posted the lyrics to his song on Twitter, basically begging fans to sing along.

When the company (WCW, WWF) is paying for the theme, there's more incentive to make sure it's done right. When you let wrestlers buy/obtain their own themes, it's likely to be $500 soundcloud crap.

          Just listen to this shit

Who is listening to this in their car? While lifting weights? Playing it at a house party? What professional sports team is playing this during a pause in the action? It's just generic, repetitive garbage.

I don't watch WWE and never really have so I've never seen Mercedes Mone wrestle there but I absolutely can't stand her and her AEW entrance because of exactly what you said.
It's like AEW tried to outdo WWE with that bullshit.

The best song WWE ever used was Live in Fear
From the sound to how it fit Bray Wyatt's character at the time
We'll never get an entrance theme that good again

I will never understand the obsession WWE has with Nu Rock but it's a huge turnoff.

I'll take AEW, TNA, RoH, and NJPW music in that order any day of the week over WWE.
