You guys have no idea how funny this shit is going to be.

You guys have no idea how funny this shit is going to be. We're so not ready and most people want to ruin the whole thing:

> Unions are still buttmad about Macron fricking everyone's pension and they all gave directives for people to "frick everything up" by blocking every key aspect of the country this summer
> The opening ceremony could gather more than 500.000 people along the Seine banks. Its going to be impossible to secure and experts are calling this move "suicidal" and "a golden opportunity for terrorists".
> Most of the volunteers are actually trolls coming from a huge online campaign where thousands of people signed up to become part of the staff with no intention of showing up for the events.
> In order to make room for the Olympic village, the city has decided to literally evict a whole bunch of college students from their dorms, most of them having nowhere to go. They are now fricking their place up for revenge.
> Swimming events are supposed to take place in the fricking Seine river but it's so polluted it's actually unsafe to swim there. Latest test from last week revealed and insane amount of bacteria and feces in the water, making everything an health issue. Not to mention there is actually no plan B for all swimming events in open water.
> Transports are not ready for the afflux of tourists, but that didn't stop the city from doubling the price of the tickets. Now Parisians are pissed and want revenge.
> And so on

I'm telling you guys, get ready for this summer because it's going to be eventful.

Are you serious? I remember hearing about “let’s do the swimming events in the Seine” but that was quite a while ago. Since I never saw anything about a big cleanup project I assumed they gave up on that. Are they really still going ahead with it anyway? Wtf are they going to do?

      They usually happen simultaneously.

I was at the commonwealth games last year, and it's not the best viewing to be honest.
I think the cycling events would be much better to watch

there's good shit like fencing or weight lifting or climbing (inb4 meme yes it's exciting to watch and yes the scoring sucks, cope) or racial shitfests like ping pong if the chinks and the japs are up against each other

i have no fricking clue why people want to see the big memes, they're better on TV

I don't care about Olympics except
the 100m final because it crowns the fastest man in the world. I watch horse races and to witness the same with people would seem cool. The price seems absurd for what you get when you put it into perspective though.
Would the 100m really seem worse in person compared to watching it on TV? i have only attended football matches and horse races and they seem more exciting in person.

In order to be a volunteer you need to be verified. You need to go through training. That takes up somewhere from 2-4 weeks, depending on where you will be stationed. You also risk a fine if you don't show up as Olympics these days are high risk so every absentee is takes seriously. Source was a volunteer in Maribor last year in EYOF. And that was on much smaller scale.

Anyways, frick cheapass students. As for the Seine, that's true. But they are throwing tons of chemicals into the Seine to counter the bacteria. Whether that works remains to be seen.

What I think is more funny is that the city of Paris announced grand investments into public transport and tried to make the city more Green. Almost one of that will be done. They are aiming for 2030. However, as a public transport enjoyer i do like watching vids about the Grande Paris Express.
