Was he really that good? When I was a kid I remember my dad saying he was MJ tier and would have won us at least three or four championships but it sounds like cope.

Yes. The Celtics probably win at least 2 more rings with him before bird and mchale fell apart

Len Bias’s rookie year would’ve been ‘87, the year Magic beat the Celtics with the “junior hook”. The Celtics probably would’ve won that finals if Bias had been there.

It's embarrassing. I hate how the media tried to make him into a superstar. He may never become that. There are only a few amount of players who are real superstars.

I was lucky to witness Kawhi in his prime help Toronto win a championship and that is seriously the only player in the past three championships who could win games by himself and had virtually no flaws to exploit. 2019 was an incredible individual run.

You are usually in your prime when you reach your late twenties. Kawhi was indeed in his late twenties in 2019.

Kawhi's prime was with the spurs

While with the spurs, Kawhi was known for his love of red apples. One time after practice everyone decided to go out for a team dinner. When it was his turn to order, Kawhi waived off the waiter and instead pulled out a bag of 12 apples. Coach Popovich asked what he was doing and Kawhi simply replied, "Apple time, apple time." He then ate all 12 apples with a knife and fork.

That squad was beastly. KG, Perkins + Davis were the combined body mass of the entire 2022 Celtics squad. Ray Allen from the perimeter, Rondo with the quickness and Pierce with the peach fuzz sweet touch….that series was gritty as hell, and that made it great.

They absolutely blew this golden opportunity. The East is just going to get better in the years to come. If Scottie Barnes becomes a legitimate superstar you can say goodbye to any chance of winning. The East will belong to Scottie or Giannis.

Honestly bad luck. They've been a competent organization for years. They've not been nearly as snakebiten as the Pacers, for example. It's just hard to be good in the NBA.

Aren't they a small market city?

I've never heard a NBA player come out publicly and say that they want to play in Boston

Usually they want to be in NYC or Miami

Hell no, and the Celtics are arguably the most storied franchise in the NBA, their only competition is the Lakers.

        >are arguably the most storied franchise in the NBA
NBA players born in the mid-late 80s and beyond don't care about that, maybe that mattered during the boomer era but not today

Zoomers only care about making millions and paying less taxes, teaming up with superstar buddies is an added bonus
