Tony Khan ripped off nothing, it was Cody's idea. Cody spent a lot of effort into getting the rights to everything his dad came up with that Vince let lapse and he ended up selling it all to get his last name back. They did rename it to Blood & Guts because WWE owns War Games and the Match Beyond so they couldn't call it that and Vince accused AEW of being blood and guts wrestling (compared to WWE family-friendly sports entertainment) and they wore it like a hat.

The 1988 War Games matches were clearly on the Great American Bash tour but they didn't do it on PPV that year. Probably because they ran it from Baltimore where bleeding isn't allowed. AEW even got fined for Omega vs Mox having a light's out death match there a few years back.

Calling the match Blood and Guts and promoting the absolute frick out of it. Forbidden Door was a $50 commercial for the match and they gave it an hour for entrances, hoopla and bleeding. People tuned in because frick yeah.
