The funny part is AEW didn't but Tony Khan sure did. Like someone said a few days ago, Tony sees himself as the main character of AEW which is obvious from the fact that he always has to use stuff like "I did this" or "I did that" or whatever. AEW is a true vanity project because producing good wrestling or a good show is actually just a complete byproduct of Tony's actual goals which are being friends with all of his wrestling heroes and being seen as the savior of pro wrestling.

I've been saying for months AEW has way too long matches that happen on a weekly basis. Regular 20+ minute ones. You can easily cram more people on the show since you're already paying them if you cut the match to 10 or under and make more angles and more matches in general

The funny part is AEW didn't but Tony Khan sure did. Like someone said a few days ago, Tony sees himself as the main character of AEW which is obvious from the fact that he always has to use stuff like "I did this" or "I did that" or whatever. AEW is a true vanity project because producing good wrestling or a good show is actually just a complete byproduct of Tony's actual goals which are being friends with all of his wrestling heroes and being seen as the savior of pro wrestling.
Problem is that he's incompetent even at that. I don't think he was ever under the illusion that he truly could beat WWE but simply wanted the perception that it was perhaps a possibility down the road simply because AEW's product was so good. In fact, if he was smart he could have actually spun WWE's recent success in a way that's at least semi-positive for AEW by claiming "We put on such a good product and really challenged them that they were forced to step up, make changes, and better themselves which is great because a healthy and reinvigorated is good for the industry and we want to use the momentum the industry is in to capture some of those eyes that are now back on professional wrestling to offer them something unique" or something to that effect. But he didn't, he decided that nWo + The Authority starring possibly the least over major act in the company while he then goes on TV in a neckbrace and says "WE'RE PEPSI! THEY'RE WORLD WEINSTEIN ENTERTAINMENT AND EVIL!" looking like a clueless buffoon in the process because, well, that's what he is.
