Yeah kinda. It gave the fan outrage a lot of exposure to the point where you had sky sport involved with the channel which made it massive. And when you have that kind of publicity its hard for the club to ignore or pretend the fan dissatisfaction doesn't exist. I would wager that AFTV contributed towards wenger being told to step down a year before his contract ended.

Their first goal was fine. There was a foul on Havertz at the other end of the pitch but it was so long ago it shouldn't matter.
The second one though Romero literally grabbed Cucurella's mop and yanked him to the floor and they got to take another corner leading straight to a goal.

I have doubts surrounding Tielemans' consistency but none about his attitude and mentality. He's been a prodigy, has some age related records, a bit like Odegaard, but he's never been over arrogant, and seems rather smart. He's a big deal at his club but hasn't been a diva about the transfer situation. I'll be happy if we get him even though we need a winger more.

nah. but I will say that I rate him, despite his mid athelticism. I'll stand by these words, always rated nketiah unlike most arse posters and he's progressing rapidly.
if we sign yet another midfielder, it'll mean next season will be entirely devoted to strenghtening our attack. it's clever to give martinelli a chance, as a nailed on starter, but dangerous when you remember how injury prone he was earlier.

Yeah, but from what I've heard they're playing him as a wingback, almost left mid.
Can't see how that would improve his defending, especially in a farmer's league.
Maybe we can just move him forward and turn him into a winger Saka style?

It’s probably something recommended by sports psychologist, I’ve heard a few things about modern coaching for multiple professions and they occasionally do things like this, small, silly and quick group activities that can help players bond, even if it’s to joke about said activity.

If he's being investigated by the police over multiple rape allegations it's fair to say there's a problem with the way he's treating women in private. This sort of thing is difficult to try when there are 1 or 2 women speaking out (over 98% of rape allegations don't result in charges) but if he keeps acting this way then we could be looking at a Mendy situation. The fact that he did the same shit to another woman this summer after being investigated by the police over his behaviour last year is a worrying sign. Mendy did something similar (allegedly raped while he was out on bail). He needs to nip this in the bud and sort himself out otherwise the CPS are going to go down a "disturbing pattern of behaviour" route and use multiple incidents that probably wouldn't result in charges individually against him.

From a club perspective, we don't know enough about how involved they are in things. How well briefed are they on the investigation against him? What kind of safeguarding procedures have they put in place to ensure he's not getting into trouble again? It's easy enough calling on the club to virtue signal over this but from their perspective he's a £100m+ asset that would need to be expensively replaced.

Xhaka seems way more attack minded this season but he can't turn and dribble out of tight spaces. Tielemena is an upgrade but I don't trust that guy to track back or be a physical presence on the pitch

ESR not shit but he's not a winger. He's got good movement on and off the ball and can bag a goal. He's good back up in attacking midfield. Pino should be brought in as cover for martinelli. Sure, you can say he's overachieving with Palace, especially against bigger teams like Liverpool. But just look at this game. They got worse after going up a man. How?

      Anonymous

Because their style of play is counter-attacking and relies on the other team to be stronger and attack a lot. They were a bit at sea once Liverpool went a man down because yes, they're a man down, but it's also still Liverpool at Anfield. Hard to get the balance right and execute a different gameplan in that case.

      Anonymous

He seems like the perfect 3rd cover if that makes sense.
As in we have the first team wingers and fullbacks, they each have someone who covers them directly and then Tavares is the option in reserve who can cover either wing and either fullback position if both primary and secondary options are gone.

      Anonymous

Not sure what player you've been watching. He doesn't have the technical level to play as an out-and-out winger and doesn't come close to Saka in that regard. His athleticism is his key strength and playing as a wing-back allows him to take advantage of that fully. It means he doesn't have to worry so much about his positioning defensively while freeing him up as a wide runner to burst past the opposition and create numerical superiorities in attack. If you played him as a winger in the Premier League he'd look a lot like Adama Traore.

I am the most optimistic I've been in years. I don't think we will challenge for the title, but I honestly think we'll get top 4 comfortably. The style of football Arsenal and City are playing is the most reliable way of securing points. Liverpool will be above us by virtue of superior players, but I have us favourites for 3rd.

      Anonymous

Have a strong feeling Anfield won't be automatic 3 points for them anymore, sick of being embarrassed by them

        Anonymous

I hope so, even beating them at home and losing away is fine honestly. Despite their start, I do think they'll still be top 2.

I'm sure the Liverpool form is a temporary thing, they also have a small injury crisis going on and now Darwin out too.
Competing directly with Chelsea/Tottenham for 3rd and 4th. I feel like it's all down to which squads stay fit. If Spurs lose Kane/Son for a long period they are doomed. If Chelsea don't sort out a proper striker they might not have the goalscoring ability to beat certain teams.
We also have the bonus of having Europa to qualify through but we really shouldn't need to rely on that fallback.

Richarlison is the best backup they've had in years, but I still agree with you on Spurs and Chelsea. I hope Europa will be used to keep players fresh. Even last year, the difference between Lokonga and Tavares at the beginning of the year and mid-season was massive. Ideally, we can keep Smith Rowe and Tierney fit without relying too much on them too. Regardless of both of them being fortunate or sorting out a forward, I really believe we can get top 4. Would love a midfielder and winger though

Well ideally we'd be looking at someone who can cover both the Partey/Xhaka role in our current system but so few players of that type exist. All the good ones have either been snapped up in last 2 years or would cost a fortune. Merino is someone I'd love to see play for us but he'd probably cost even more than Paqueta.

Insane how United have the perfect backup DM he's good enough to start for them even, yet let him rot on the bench and may even sell him

Edu should unironically go for him. I doubt he will though, I think Elneny is considered Partey's backup

Also Xhaka and Partey play different roles now. Lokonga was meant to be a backup for Partey but is better in the Xhaka role.

            Anonymous

elneny's done nothing wrong, just like ESR, I don't think they get a fair shot because Arteta doesn't rate them for whatever reason

they're not top class but they're good enough to ride the bench of any Champion's League club no doubt in my mind. I think I do recall elneny is on some insane wages though which is fricking stupid if true

            Anonymous

I like Elneny, he's fine as a backup. I guess it's just that Garner is young and English which makes him better. But also crucially, should Partey end up transferring to Prison FC, the backup will become a starter and Elneny isn't good enough for that role, he lacks the passing range.

We don't play counter attacking football, so we wouldn't get the best out of Vardy. Same reason why it would be foolish to sign Andy Carroll because we don't spam crosses into the box. The idea that we should also sign a completely different striker to give us something different is silly too, strikers don't score unless the entire team plays to their strengths.

Assuming we sign the high priority CM that we want, would you guys be okay with signing Pulisic as depth for LW? He's not as good as Martinelli in the off-ball pressing phase, but he's definitely a bit more lethal at incisive dribbling and playing 1-2's with the striker. Would have great interplay with Jesus and Zinchenko.

If we have the money and finish our CM signing, I would like Poolisic as LW depth. Would bring us to CL-quality depth. And if Saka gets injured he'd be able to play an RW role easily too

      Anonymous

where is all this pulisic talk coming from?
i swear i saw another headline saying newscastle wanting to buy him as well, is chelsea unloading him or something?

        Anonymous

Yeah definitely looks like Chelsea PR has recently "leaked" these rumors to be used as headlines to attract more bidders. He's obviously a good player and at his very best he embarassed Liverpool (TAA and Matip's side) in a game a few seasons ago. He's a very tricky, determined winger. I think he's technically more elite than Martinelli but not as good at pressing as Martinelli.

But the thing about Poolisic is that he is extremely dogged and has great balance, so one of those players who just doesn't give up when chasing a 50/50 or being double teamed by two defenders, his twink body will hold them off.

So he can be coached to press and he has the doggedness and balance to become a good presser. I remember when I was playing FM18 I saw Pulisic's "Determination" attribute at like 18 or something and I thought 'yeah that sounds completely right'

          Anonymous

You are describing Martinelli bro. Made fun of TAA once and is strong and can take a tackle while keeping the ball.

I do not agree that Pulisic is better technically compared to Martinelli. The American uses changes in direction as his dribbling style compared to Martinelli who uses strength and small body feints. Maybe it makes Pulisic look better technically because of that. Didn't some player say that Martinelli was the most technically gifted player at the club like last season?

Besides, Pulisic is always injured. I would not want him in the squad. He feels like a Man Utd signing.

Do we really have a history of bottling it when it matters? Sure we lost to Birmingham in the final and we lost out on top 4 last season. But more times have we clawed our way back to get into top 4 or squeezed out that FA cup win (if we talk recent history).

            Anonymous

I wouldn't even say we bottled it last season. It was a young squad with no depth that ran out of steam. We were relying on the likes of Cedric, Elneny, Tavares, Nketiah in the final stretch.

You people need to get your head checked if you think Tavarez is better than Tierney, or just have the consistency longer than the memory of a goldfish. Tierney being Zinchenko's back up is already ridiculous, shut up about Tavarez.

    Next you'll want Runarsson back.

Tavares just needs more time to work on his defense game and he'll come good, zinchenko will be playing the xhaka role eventually, runarsson though can frick off.

Wouldn't have minded selling Rob Holding for a decent fee, but 3 CBs is not enough squad depth, especially for a team that is playing European football. It's probably too late to look for a replacement in this window, unless the club can find someone and get the deal done within 14 days. Maybe sell him in January if we can identify a good left-footed CB that will give Gabriel more competition.

Mikel is a pretty classless guy, naive, too. Seems to think the word 'frick' will psychically shock the players into action and uses it like it's getting banned tomorrow. He would also never pat himself on the back in front of the players for 'defending' them in pressers. That behavior tells you he suffers from self pity to a degree.

True if it wasn't for the refs they should have lost. They had no control of the game at all, not even in spells. Completely out played by a notably weaker Chelsea side compared to last season even though spurs have strengthened, at least on paper. Tuchel nailed the tactics. The same tuchel that lost 4-2 to a weaker arsenal squad at the end of last season and got demolished 4-0 a week before the league started.

Saying what? Only morons like yourself are coping by trying to insinuate "Tottenham are finished" based on one game they rode their luck a bit. If anything it's impressive they were able to grind out a result against waves of pressure; something your shit team could've used against Newcastle towards the end of last season.

By the way, none of the key refereeing decisions were wrong. The tackle on Havertz was clean, the first goal was only arguably off-side against Richarlison but not clear cut, and the hair pulling was a foul, but VAR does not award free kicks for fouls. Learn the rules.

Tottenham are still clearly ahead of Arsenal right now. Jesus looks like a very good signing, but you still have an average midfield and defence.

            >grind out a result
Topspur didn't grind out anything you got completely obliterated the entire game but was saved by the ref on multiple occasions including the equalising goal which literally everyone in the entire footballing world agrees was daylight robbery. As a consequence the guy on VAR is being taken off matches this weekend. Even the FA are silently admitting the officiating was extremely biased.

            >Topspur didn't grind out anything you got completely obliterated the entire game
You mean just like Arsenal did last season... against NEWCASTLE?
With everything on the line and everything to play for, you got dominated by Newcastle, a mid-table team with nothing to play for. Lost 2-0 and it should've been 5-0.
I'd say that's far more embarrassing than getting Tottenham getting a draw at Stamford Bridge mate.
            >but was saved by the ref on multiple occasions including the equalising goal
            t. moron. Read the rules. I already explained why you're wrong in the second paragraph here:

Saying what? Only morons like yourself are coping by trying to insinuate "Tottenham are finished" based on one game they rode their luck a bit. There are 3-4 fouls every single corner, it's impossible for the referee to see them all. VAR does not award regular fouls. You are extremely dumb for not understanding this.

            Anonymous

He's right though. You were literally saved by the ref missing the hairpull. "read the rules" only negatively effects your argument. You're right about VAR not being able to pull it back, but by the rules of the game there should have been a free kick for Chelsea for the hairpull and therefore no corner, therefore no goal. Hence - Saved by the ref.

            >He's right though. You were literally saved by the ref missing the hairpull.
and you're still missing the point like a moron.

Referees miss corner fouls all the time. It is not reasonable to expect a referee to see literally every single thing that goes on in a corner because there's shoving, pulling and blocking everywhere in the box. Low-IQs talk about this particular incident like it's some kind of travesty, but fouls are committed and missed by the referee every single corner.

            >but by the rules of the game there should have been a free kick for Chelsea for the hairpull and therefore no corner
There are likely dozens of examples of Arsenal getting points on the back of the referee missing Arsenal players committing fouls.
But those don't count i guess because you're biased and dumb.

            >It is not reasonable to expect a referee to see literally every single thing that goes on in a corner
But it is more than reasonable to expect a referee to see someone being hauled to the floor by their hair when he's looking DIRECTLY at it.
Watch the fricking replay. He's standing where Cucu/Romero are literally in between him and the ball.

            >There are likely dozens of examples of Arsenal getting points on the back of the referee missing Arsenal players committing fouls.
Prove it. According to official VAR statistics as of last season arsenal have had the most decisions go against them in Europe since VAR was introduced.

            >But it is more than reasonable to expect a referee to see someone being hauled to the floor by their hair when he's looking DIRECTLY at it.
No, moron. You don't know where his eyes were focused, you're just judging by what the TV shows you. There are always 5-8 different things going on during a corner.

Arsenal fans like yourself have always been notorious for having low IQs, so it doesn't really come as a surprise you're too stupid to grasp this.

            >you cannot conclusively say his eyes were focused specifically on Cucurella and Romero.

Even if he's focusing on the ball his peripheral vision can see what's going on.
Once again, your argument relies on a referee being so braindead he literally cannot see something going down right in front of him. Which is obviously a rare occurence. Enjoy getting more competent refs and getting shit on.

Happens all the time in every top league in the world and the Champions League. Fouls get missed, incorrect decisions are made. You're acting like this particular instance is some kind of travesty, but that just further illustrates you're extremely insecure and irritated with a big chip on your shoulder.

Tottenham have been finishing above Arsenal for a while now. Even during their shit years, Tottenham are still finishing above Arsenal. It's clearly taking a toll on your mental stability, which is why you need to simp for Chelsea and cry with them about the refereeing.

You're deliberately conflating fouls in the box being missed with a player being hairgrabbed to the ground.
There are literally thousands of examples of the first and yes they do get missed, but I guarantee you cannot find a single instance of the second where it is missed, no foul is given and it leads to a goal. This particular instance IS a travesty of refereeing and it's why there's so much attention on it.

Embarrassing low-IQ idiots like yourself are trying to claim the referees explicitly engineered a Tottenham win by missing a set-piece foul, and allowing them to have one more chance to score from a 5%er.

There were multiple opportunities for the officials to deal with what happened but multiple times in a row they decided to do nothing. And everyone knows next week an identical situation will happen where a player will end up getting sent of or a goal disallowed. It happens every single time without fail. Every time.

Bulking up the upper body doesn't actually help players like that. What they gain in strength they lose in acceleration and pace. This is what happened to Jack Wilshere - he bulked up while he was out injured only to lose that burst of pace that made him such a good player in the first place.

The ideal physique for that kind of player is light in the upper body and powerful in the lower body.

He'll have comfortably got over 1.5xG from the headed goal, one-on-one miss, and backpost shot that hit the post.
