They are probably too broke, but expect something from Serie A.
I'm sure some club would have paid his 15 mil asking price, if for not his wet noodle performances at the start of the season. He's good positionally, conservative, doesn't commit fouls, and was solid enough mentally to captain the club a few times. Europa League proven.

Only thing is I'm pretty sure Mari was one of Edu's bs signings so I wonder if that's going to screw >us when trying to sell him. It shouldn't but I still don't trust Edu all that much.

Raphinha deal. Barcelona have full agreement with his agent Deco since February on a five year deal but Leeds want €55m, no plan to change their price tag. #FCB

Barça need to be fast as Premier League clubs are back in the race, including Arsenal - but no bid submitted yet.

Not sure if posted in old thread but fabrizio update on raphinha

      Anonymous

      >his agent is Deco
It's probably Edu doing him a favour to get some urgency out of Barça than anything else imo.
I don't see us signing Rafinha to be honest. He's probably focused on getting into the WC squad and wants playing time.
While I agree that Saka should be rested more often and we have Europe next season, he's still the player we should be developing and giving playing time, plus I don't think Raphinha would be ok with sitting on the bench though.

I don't believe most of these rumours are legit. Likely just spurs fans trying to link themselves with good players so they say they're linked to the same targets as arsenal. Before today there was never any news of spurs wanting jesus. They went from lauturo martinez for 77m last week to jesus this week. A load of BS. In comparison at least the legit guys like orny and fabrizio have confirmed arsenal's links with these targets.

He may be a manlet, but if he's anything like Ayala, then he'd be worth it, innit

    >If Arsenal do get Lisandro Martínez of Ajax for less than €40m it would be a steal. He has incredible aerial ability despite not being the tallest (think Roberto Ayala), great reading of the game and can build from the back. Will surely replace Otamendi for Argentina after WC.

      Anonymous

I'll admit I haven't seen much of this guy but I've obviously seen Argentina play and they currently play a very fast paced game, free flowing, but with pacy defenders who can cover ground and press quickly. Also good on the ball and can make a back to front pass. Arteta has kind of suggested that's the kind of football he wants to play and this dude might fit perfectly into that system. Might be why they don't care about his height. His mobility might compensate for it. Like I said I haven't seen much of him but it makes sense.

        Anonymous

Height was never a problem if you're good at reading the game, despite he will surely play at LB most of the time in arsenal.

Obviously this isn’t the most likely outcome, but is this team an outside title contender? I think it’s at the very least a strong candidate for top four, especially with how Chelsea and United are looking now.

I do think that if we get Martinez, Holding and/or Tavares may leave. BNC may also go out on loan. But with the insane amount of fixtures leading up to the WC and the five sub rule I think having a huge squad might be good.

I honestly think that defenders with aerial prowess are overrated. If you're a lanklet defender who wins every aerial duel in the box its cool and all but the opportunity cost of a shorter defender who is better with defensive positioning/communication would be able to prevent such type of dangerous crosses even coming in the first place

      Anonymous

      This.
He's also easily better in the air than say your average 6'1" player given his athleticism.
From watching him play he would add a lot of bite and pace to our defence, plus he can cover defensive mid as well.

i like Raphinha he's got that dog in him, great technique but importantly the tenacity to chase and fight for the ball. think he'd add a proactive element to the attack that's sorely needed, a good foil to the thoughtful but sometimes slightly laborious players that are currently at the club. on paper it's perfect, like Pepe but with the quality to actually get himself to the goal instead of immediately giving up at the first sign of hardship. who knows in reality though. something about him always makes me feel like he could be trouble in a dressing room.

I said Vitinha is a troony name.
      Raphinha is fine.
      Raphael > Rapha > Raphinha, that's standard
Vitor > Vito > Vitinho, would be fine too.
Changing it into an "a" and, consequently, the word's gender, is what makes it a troony name.
The short version of Rafael already ends with an A, so that's why it's fine.

According to Transfermarkt Guendouzi, Lacazette and Mavropanos has left the club.

Players still at Arsenal or returning from loans:
      Mari
      Torreira
      Maitland-Niles
      Nelson
      Bellerin
      Saliba

Weirdly enough transfermarkt has also added Fabio Vieira as a done transfer even though he has not been presented at Arsenal yet.

Raphinha is gonna drag this shit until the last second in hopes Barça go for him. I only expect this deal to move if Dembele gets a new contract and the De Jong deal falls though.
Otherwise I agree with we need a LB and another CM way more than a pricey winger when we already have Saka.
We still need a backup winger if Pepe does go, but I would be fine with some lower profile option.

I don't see what the big deal is though. Tottenham have a younger, probably better player in Kulusevski, and what does Raphinha even add to Arsenal? Saka found his niche as a RW cutting inside, and now he's being shoehorned back to the left to accommodate a massively overpriced Brazilian from Leeds?

Everyone talks about how he'll finally get his opportunity to be the #1 striker away from City, but did he not have that opportunity this year? Aguero finally left and City failed to sign Kane, so last season was Jesus's big chance to shine and he returned... 8 goals in 28 appearances... and half of those goals(4) were scored in one game against relegation fodder Watford.

It absolutely is. If it was that easy to find a striker like that Chelsea wouldn't have wasted a quarter of a billion on the likes of Morata, Werner, Havertz, Lukaku. They've been trying to plug that gap since Costa left but they keep getting duds because the centre-forward market is so shallow.

All the players on your list will struggle to break 13/14 goals in the Premier League.

Jamie Vardy came from the Championship and instantly became a 15+ goal a year forward.

The point is, if a rando like Jamie Vardy could do it, there are probably several players who could do it.
It's all about having the right player in the right team with the right manager at the right time. It's not that complicated. Benteke was plucked from the Belgian league and he could do it for Aston Villa. Again, not rocket science.

Schick is the better option. Scamacca looks like a thug, not a good influence for our kids.
Andre Silva as a 2nd option. Belotti is a fraud.

International footy fully exposed Belotti as the absolute dud he is. Italian Danny Ings.

Bawww, wouldn't want your kids learning any swagger now would you? Need to keep them as clean and well-behaved as possible. Teaching them to win at all costs is clearly a no-no for Arsenal; what's really important is making sure they're gracious and honorable in defeat.

Saka will be going to City or Liverpool within 12 months at this rate.

For 65m why not get Gnabry for less and foot the bill on his contract?
Or maybe this Raphinha thing is just us trying to egg on Saka to sign da ting.

Arsenal and Man City, still working on Gabriel Jesus deal. Talks also in progress on player side - takes some time as it’s big deal, with key details now discussed. #AFC

Arsenal are negotiating on both Gabriel and Raphinha deals, with lot of competition on Leeds’ one.

Arsenal's transfer has never been clear than this season. The reason why we pushed for Lisandro now make more sense after signing Vieira. Arteta wants to have defensive stability on the left side, like how Tomi hold the right side. Both are CB who can play really well as inverted FB. With this, now our no. 8 (Vieira-Ode) can roam freely in front without worrying much about the defence.

Barca need to come with funds to appease Leeds (for Raphinha) & that’s not straightforward in their present position. Arsenal, they do have a bit more flexibility financially at the present time and they really, really really like this player. [@gunnerblog Via @TheAthelticUK YT]

Arsenal cut the wage bill from £204m down to £86m since arteta which was the main focus of his first two seasons here.

Also Kroenke paid off the emirates debt which freed up an additional £40m per year for arsenal to spend on transfers.

No Kroenke paid it off end of 2020-2021 season (covered the early repayment penalty too).
