I strongly doubt they will go above 20 participants. There's really no reason to frick with the formula. It likely means they will just cut on some of the fat like Tanga Loa, Chase Owens, YOSHI-HASHI, among others.
With that said, they are also gonna want a good amount of out-of-company or new-to-company guys to build excitement, since the pandemic slowly being erased is a great opportunity to do that, and it results in dimes (See the Ace and Zayne stuff), which cuts even more in the New Japan talent.

I won't try to guess who exactly is on the roster, but I'm gonna say that they're gonna have like 3 to 4 out of company guys. 1 or 2 from AEW, some more indieish guy (Alex Zayne/Lindaman style) and then maybe one NOAH/Impact guy.

Why do people care so much about this manlet? He is like Shibata without any MMA credentials and under 6 feet.

Why do people care so much about this manlet?
He's based as frick and always delivers in the ring.
        >MMA credentials.
Wrestling is fake and Shibata has an embarrassing negative record anyway.
        >and under 6 feet.
        He's in Japan.

Do you realize that most people in that tournament are 6 feet tall or higher? Not that i'm against All Petite showing how petite they are to the world, both in height and wrestling skill.

            >Most
            Not all.
NJPW is good with their camera angles to make people look larger than life anyway. Danielson's size will play no factor in this tournament.

Hopefully he's in the same block as ZSJ

        >Why do people care so much about this manlet?
        >He is like Shibata
Answered your own question. It will be interesting to watch him in NJPW because you pretty much know from the start he's going to go hard.

Like the other anon said it doesn't matter if he hasn't done real fighting or is a midget. Not everyone has to be Brock Lesnar. He's about the closest to a modern Benoit or Dynamite Kidd you're gonna get nowadays. I haven't watched wrestling for a while but if he happens to be in the G1 in interesting matches I'll watch

        Anonymous

If you think the reason people like Shibata is because he had a few MMA fights and he's over 6', you're a fricking moron. Don't pretend to watch NJPW. You can go now.

Now that you mention it, I've read somewhere about T Hawk being brought in for the G1

        Anonymous

I'd imagine that if they accept anyone from GLEAT he'll be a fallguy, they just aren't popular/rich enough to get a courtesy "push". Same for AJPW.

          Anonymous

Correction: AJPW has some people that potentially could get that courtesy push but i don't know if they'll want to partecipate.

That's headcanon that does make some sense since the 3 Stronghearts that have teamed a bunch of time in New Japan, being CIMA, Lindaman and T-Hawk, have now had 2 out of 3 be in a tournament this year. CIMA in the New Japan Cup, El Lindaman in BOSJ and then it'd kind of make sense to have T-Hawk complete pattern.

The problem is that T-Hawk is not very good lol

Now that i really think about it someone from AJPW is more probable, have no idea who though. My dream wrestler for a G1 is Sekimoto, too bad it will never happen.

If those two are in, then that is 100% confirmation there won't be more AEW guys in the G1. There's just no space. I wouldn't say they're confirmed.

  13. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

Damn, I can only see like 4 easy to eliminate guys in there but I also know they're not gonna gonna go above 20 and they want as many outsiders as possible.
Not envying Gedo on trying to figure this one out, but on the flipside it means they're only grabbing like one troony talent. Danielson would be nice but I'd like to have him when the crowds can cheer since I doubt he'll be in more than one G1s in his life with his troony commitments.

      Realistic outsiders IMO:
      >Mox
      >Josh Alexander
      >T-Hawk
      Also

I strongly doubt they will go above 20 participants. There's really no reason to frick with the formula. It likely means they will just cut on some of the fat like Tanga Loa, Chase Owens, YOSHI-HASHI, among others.

Why do you guys think that they won't increase the participant count? It's been 20 for a bit sure, but G1 over the years isn't exactly known for consistency in its general format, if I am not mixing stuff up that is
Now thinking about it, we can probably calculate the amount of participants based on the amount of shows

        Anonymous

20 shows it appears, last g1 had 19 if I am counting correctly, but that might be a case of a finals being included or something, I don't know

        Anonymous

They have one more show than usual, at 19 pre-finals shows instead of 18. I don't know what that's about.

But keep in mind, going from 20 to 22 entrants means 20 more singles matches.

Going from 20 to 24 entrants means 42 more singles matches.

One thing they could do to make that easier is start doing full stacked block action (All singles matches in certain days), like they did in 2014, where it was all that for only nine nights, but there's a reason why they didn't try that experiment again, and now they're at 19 nights. It seems like a tough pill to swallow.

Unless they bring in Bryan or someone like that, I'm not watching. NJPW currently sucks because they just rehash the same matches we've seen 1000 times already. Like yeah, I know Tanahashi vs Ishii will be great, I've already seen this shit to death

I haven't watched since this years WK. Last year's G1 was shit. Okada and Ibushi were both phoning it in, and the most interesting thing about the tournament was Cobb having subpar matches. It's time to stop coping and admit the company is stale.

    KUSHIDA is rumored.

El Lindaman mentioned that T-Hawk would be in G1 CLIMAX, after CIMA competed in New Japan Cup and Lindman competed in BOSJ.

Jake Lee from All Japan has also been requesting entry into the tournament as well and wants to fight Hiroshi Tanahashi. He's another potential name.
