We need a new league that allows you to play defense and enforces the rules. The NBA is basically WWE with an inflatable orange at this point.
1. Make fouls actually require egregious contact, not this shit where people just purposely run into the other team and get free throws out of it. I watched 5 minutes of knicks/sixers yesterday and that is ALL it was
2. After doing that, make all fouls 1 free throw attempt AND possession of the ball so intentionally fouling for 45 real time minutes (15 seconds game time) at the end of games goes away

Heavily agree, drawing fouls has become ridiculous, even fouls in pickup with crackheads is better than the nba.

Nah, 3 pointers are fine as is. They make Iso ball more enjoyable to watch because of the 3 point threat.

It's a flawed sport from the base rules alone, it can't be fixed. Any, no, all basketball leagues will eventually become like the NBA.
They catered too hard to offense and watered the league down with expansion teams. Basically every rules change for the last 40 years was bad. Contract to 20 teams and reset to 1980 rules and officiating. The public is right. Contemporary basketball is a weird 3 hour long 3 point shooting challenge and foul merchant fiesta.
Basketball in general is neat, but NBA sucks because it doesn't allow any form of defensive work. Also, the media around it is particularly moronic, at least that's my impression. I actually like FIBA much more than NBA because they still allow defense, and that's despite the NBA obviously having the better talent. I also think European players tend to be more versatile and less about pure athleticism or super-fancy dribbling, but that's not as important. Perhaps making the rim slightly smaller and moving the 3 line a bit further back could help the game a bit, I fear it turning into a chugfest - that's especially dangerous if there's no defense - but it shouldn't be too extreme.
Sometimes I also think the field is a tad too small, but I know that's my warped perception of things. It's a neat sport and mostly fine as it is, NBA just needs more defense.

Basketball is fun to play with your mates, basketball is terrible as a spectator sport.
Basketball is maybe my 5th favorite sport but the first 4 days of March Madness is my favorite sporting event of the year by far
It is cheap and easy to play, so it has strong grassroots popularity, but you can't fix the height advantage/necessity so high level basketball is a weirdly exotic spectator sport played by alien freaks
I think it's cool, the 1/2/3 point throws perfectly balance each other, and the fact that scores go into three digits make it a game of skill and not refereeing
