If they're references I honestly wouldn't be able to tell because I don't keep up with AEW shit and don't want to. The promos they cut are easy to understand for a normal person without the need of any context or background information to set it up because any gaps will be filled in like saying that CM Punk once used that quote (which isn't made up by The Usual Suspects, by the way) and then making up a parody of said quote to make fun of the way CM Punk looks, and I don't have to wonder what AEW thing CM Punk did to fill me in on what any of that means.
I didn't watch any of that shit, I don't know any references other than the shit about the backstage fights and I wouldn't have known that there was anything to catch if not for this thread
