I would love to see the nba/nfl guys trying to either hit a baseball or shoot a hockey puck. Watching Giannis make a fool of himself trying to hit a stationary ball on a tee was enlightening.
If the players aren't random then that can be true for every sport because there are at least 30 players who once played basketball or football or baseball in any of the others (maybe not hockey). However the easiest transition would be to football because of how specialized it is. Everyone in basketball needs to know how to shoot. Everyone in baseball needs to either hit or pitch a 100 MPH fastball.
There are plenty of NBA players (and NFL players, MLB players, etc.) who were good or even great at other sports in high school, but that doesn't mean they could succeed in those other sports at the highest levels.
I'm of the opinion that MLB hitters are the most preternatural athletes in sports, as weird as it sounds since they don't have to be particularly athletic looking. The skills MLB players MUST have to hit a baseball is innate and would play well in any sport, and they are very explosive and strong as well, and decently fast. But I think you can train strength and speed more than you can train hand eye coordination, reflexes, vision that MLB players are the best of the best at.
They still wouldn't be able to play any other sport professionally immediately of course, but I believe if they had trained in any sport their whole life they would be very good at them
somewhat ambiguous but the GOAT NFL, NHL and NBA players all had some sort of path or desire to play baseball professionally but were far better at their other sport.
there are definitely NFL QBs who could have been pro pitchers.
Anyone can play American """Football""" if they can take a hit. The only skilled positions are QB and Coach, and even then that's debatable, everyone else is replaceable lmao
lol you have no idea what you're talking about. Plenty of athletic guys can't make it in the NFL due to lack of skill at all the other positions. And that's not getting into the extreme athletic demands. O-Lineman are some of the strongest men on the planet. CBs are almost Olympic-level sprinters.
yes. There are guys benching over 600 pounds. At the combine they bench 225 for reps; the record is 49. 49 reps at 225, and that's for a guy fresh out of college; these guys get even stronger after a few years in the league.

He’s not lying. Even at the High School level in states like California, Texas & Florida these dudes are drinking protein shakes, steric dieting, and are in the gym before school & after school. I went to high school with future pros & Divison 1 guys. Those O-line guys are unreal. Admittedly, some of the DB’s are failed receivers, but they usually have all the gifts of a great receiver (athleticism, speed) with an extra element of quick reflexes, reacting and reading.
Ok, I'm feeling weirdly happy for no reason today so I'm going to give it a shot instead of just shitting on you guys, maybe you are right. When is the next game or which historical game should I watch today?

Eddie Hall (former world's strongest man) did the NFL combine. He hit 43 reps on the bench:

eh, unfortunately it did get pretty woke lately. They unironically sing the "Black National Anthem" at the Super Bowl now and there was a lot of BLM shit.
but the game itself is still fun to watch although they do keep passing more rules to make it safer.

The NFL is better in the sense that the owners have more control. Shit is just as rigged, though. But yes, it is by far the most popular American sport for a reason. It’s the chess aspect of mental strategy, meets the brute force of physical combat. Learning the rules might be a pain, so be patient. Another thing that makes football king, is 90% of the games are all played on Sunday, and it’s only a 17 game season so every game feels like the stakes are incredibly high. Divisions actually matter (unlike the NBA).

How is he so shit at breaking tackles? His calling was pro power lifting.
I don't think 30, but defnitely some. There are multiple players who went from college basketball to the NFL, so surely the NBA players could.
But the point he seems to be making is inaccurate. The reason it's true is because the NFL has such a diverse range of positions. The basketball players who went pro have just been tight ends. Nobody in the NBA could be a quarterback or offensive lineman or most other positions. Zion could maybe be a defensive end, aside from that it's probably just tight ends. Even players physically built for linebacker or safety wouldn't have the skills. Same with wide receiver. And most other positions have physical demands that NBA players couldn't make.
So basically, Zion could be a defensive end, a handful of players could play tight end, but that's it.
ANT was the #1 football recruit in the country at 13 years old. They say he played WR, DB, QB. I also could imagine Ja being a receiver
Ja Morant? He's listed at 6'2", which means he's about 6'0" because NBA exaggerates heights. You have to be extremely skilled and fast to be a WR at that height.
I don't think any NBA player has the combination of speed, height, and skill to be a pro WR

People really don't get what makes JB so amazing. He isn't particularly fast or strong (nor does he have a long wingspan or height). He just has 500 basketball IQ and instinct. He compensates for his lack of athletic ability by reading and manipulating his defenders and knowing when and where his spots will open up. He also knows how to force his defenders to illegally contact him and has trained relentlessly at scoring through the contact. Dude's an inspiration to anybody who dreams of being a elite player in the basketball despite not being a naturally gifted genetic freak.
This. Thats why his game is so "herky jerky" instead of smooth like other guys who drive to the rim all the time. For him it's all about getting to the right position at a given instant rather than utilizing one's quickness the get around people or bullying their defender with strength.
>Dude's an inspiration to anybody who dreams of being a elite player in the basketball despite not being a naturally gifted genetic freak.
"You don't need to have freakish innate height or speed to make it in the NBA, you can also have freakish innate vision and instinct"
Anthony edwards is dominating the nba right now and he literally said he looks football more. I know the usa is the only.country who plays American football but the truth is that it does attract the best athletes from their country, whereas lower tier guys get into basketball and even lower tier ones get into baseball
Hate both sports, but you have to be very, very technically talented to play NBA. NFL is just two gives with technical talent, and a bunch of fat oafs and pacy manlets who don't need to have any ball skills.
No. The NFL isn't just pure athleticism, it's also grit and durability. They destroy each other on a routine basis, practice and in games. All of the guys who are injury prone or allergic to hits, and there are a lot of them, this doesn't get acknowledged enough, get filtered out by the time we get to D1 football. It's an entirely different mentality than basketball, football basically absorbs all of the absolute freaks who were meant to be on the front lines of some army sometime in antiquity, that live for violence and battle.
Not to mention the NBA is mostly giraffes. The peak height in the NFL is more 6'0'-6'4, any taller and you need to put a lot of weight on and become a beast linesman. Obviously the skellys of the NBA ain't doing that.
shortstops are just well rounded. They're all fast, strong, great footwork, elite arm strength even in a sport where everyone has elite arm strength; and of course the innate skills needed to hit a baseball of hand eye coordination, vision, reflexes, explosiveness
Shortstops and quarterbacks are the best overall athletes growing up but quarterback doesn't actually require the raw athleticism that shortstop requires and many NFL quarterbacks end up having more important skills than their athleticism. But MLB shortstops are just the best athletes.
it's also in my opinion the second most competitive sport in the world behind soccer but soccer players skills are just too niche and wouldn't translate well to most other sports.
The worst NFL team would bootyblast the best college team. Even elite college programs have multiple guys who are future Uber drivers, whereas NFL shitters were all The Guy on their college team. The starters on top college programs are guaranteed good jobs out of college. And 2015 Alabama and 2021 Georgia would probably take last year's Panthers in tied at half-time.
