They are really good watches, but so are watches from several other premium brands that are not as expensive. As soon as you hit about 200 bucks in watches, you are paying for the prestige of the brand or the israeliteelry involved, but not for an improvement in quality.

You don't buy a Rolex because you want to get a watch that will survive being smashed with a hammer. The difference is often in how intricate its movement is (the engine). In addition to that, a lot of these watches are produced in small numbers so they're hard to get a hold off which leads to excess demand relative to its supply.
I wasn't arguing with that. But anything clearing at least the same quality as a Vostok or higher means you'll get a watch that tells the right time for 10+ years without missing more than 1 minute tops. So yes, you can get a good automatic watch for 200€.
The Toyota is a good analogy. Toyotas are great reliable cars. Anything more expensive is not for intrinsic qualities but for brand recognition and luxury reasons.
